I was making an observations on the topic and giving my prediction on the outcome adding to the discussion if you will. Hell I don't think Italy will get anywhere against Spain in the Euro 2012 final but it would be a little silly to suggest what I mean is that they shouldn't bother playing right?

Employers are obliged to follow certain procedures when an employee becomes redundant. Redundancy occurs where you lose your job due to circumstances such as the closure of the business or a reduction in the number of staff. The Redundancy Payments Acts 1967-2007 provide a minimum entitlement to a redundancy payment for employees who have a set period of service with the employer. Not all employees are entitled to this statutory redundancy payment, even where a redundancy situation exists. You can read our document on qualifying for redundancy.Employer rebate reduction: The employer rebate of statutory redundancy payments made to employees on or after 1 January 2012 is 15% (was 60%).

I give my opinion on what I think the outcome will be. 4. I give my reasoning behind point (3) with an example of a similar situation. Thats about the level of depth i was aiming for. It's about all I ever aim for being honest. BTW suggesting that someone's post is beneath you is not only gloriously condescensing but it doesnt read much better then writing "I know you are but what am I"

Maybe that's what you intended, but to me it read more like, 1. Express your sympathy. 2. Send them your best wishes. 3. Immediately undermine these sentiments with a 'but' that implies that your good will towards them is limited because they are embarking on a course of action that you believe is unlikely to be successful. There's half an implication in there that because they are unlikely to get any joy that either a) they shouldn't bother protesting and/or b) we shouldn't feel the need to get too worked up about their difficulties. Since this miserable, craven kind of reasoning was obviously not what you intended -- hence the righteous indignation and grievious offence taken -- let's just put it down to grammar, shall we? As a suggestion for the future, you might express your best wishes and your doubts about given actions in two separate sentences, not separated by a 'but', in order to avoid confusion!
