Melaleuca scam or not?

Hi all,

Has anybody got any experience good or bad with melaleuca selling or getting involved? My gf's brother is raving about it and is trying to get us to buy all these products and start selling ourselves. Sounds a tad pyramidy to me!
Just wondering if the company can be trusted or if anyone has any experience?

If these products/services were so good they would not need MLM. Just finished reading "The Google Story". Google never advertised to drive people to their website. People started using it because it was way better than Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista back in 1999, 2000.

If you google Melaleuca the discussion on boards does not come up in the first three pages.

Can you clarify the bolded bit please? Do you mean that you have to buy something every month? What happens if you do not? Is there a minimum amount you have to buy?

Hiya, Well, I'm not a new poster but I am involved with melaleuca, can't figure out why you wouldn't want someone who was involved with melaleuca to give you info because surely that's the best way. I'm not selling nothing to you, I have my own customers

My story is......

Started buying the products as an alternative to shopping at tesco etc and loved them. being buying them for a good few months now and I save money, now to be honest I have a large family so the minimum point spend for me was no problem. I'm not out money as it's money I would have spent on products from Tesco etc, I just like using them and they work for me.

I was recommending the products to my friends and thought it ridiculous that since they give me the opportunity to earn money from recommending the products then why not!!!! It was only 1 euro in October to sign up so I did, had nothing to lose because I'm using the products anyway and will be continuing to do so.

It's not a pyramid scam, operates very much like Avon and Kleeneze except, I don't have to go door to door collecting and distributing catalogues or holding stock

I just recommend stuff that I'm using.

As I said, I only started in October and haven't really had the time to put into yet but will be expecting a cheque of some sort next month. It's not a get quick rich scheme, it is a job, how part time or full time or what you get from it is up to you. Hope this helps!!!

Melaleuca is a good company with good products. I wouldn't compare to tesco though more of a health shop because the products are great for your health wise but not as cheap as tesco. Some do last a long time the way they are concentrated.

Hi John, I wasn't comparing them to Tesco, the products that I buy, I would normally buy from supermarkets, Laundry stuff, polish etc, I don't use the health products because I have cupboards full of them

Oh ya they are good quality but a bit expensive. But has a fairly good pay plan but needs alot a work and referred customers to make a descent monthly commision

I definitely wouldn't believe everything you read on google or YouTube etc. Usually negative postings are from other marketers trying to draw you into their business instead of the one you are trying to review and get information on.

Not sure what your talking about Curious, the full line of Melaleuca products can be found on it's website and when u become a customer u are given a catalogue. Orders can be made through website or by phoning a freephone number. I personally recruit customers by recommending the products that I have used and recruit other folk who want to do the same. If you mean do i go door to door with catalogues collecting and delivering orders and hold stock then no, I don't. At the moment, as I've already said, I can't say yes or no, it's a good business to get involved with and will make you money because i have only just got involved. I was a customer using and will continue to use the products because they work well for my family.

one of their faults is there products are so (concentrate/good) you only need a little, hence they last longer.

I ordered households cleaners, toothpaste and some sports stuff last month. no where near needing replacements as it lasts so long, so I emailed Melaleuca to say I don't want my backup order sent. I emailed them before the 13th deadline.

No response for a day, then I get a reply on the 13th saying its too late they cant cancel an order in progress. After a few emails they tell me, if you dont want an automatic order then... letter/email/fax to de-activate your account before 25th of month, then re-activate when needed, order products, then de-activate again.

main point is.. if they didnt force this 35pts minimum spend per month/automatic backup order.. i'd stay with them.. but for now.. i'm cancelling my account and contacting bank to block any direct debits.

EDIT: so i'm getting a €60+p&p order that i dont want and i have to pay postage to send it back and get refunded.

I am pro melaleuca, the only thing I hated was that I was committed to buying it. You have to set up a back up order, and if by a certain deadline you haven't ordered something the backup order is automatically ordered, so in that respect it is logistically a pain.

That being said though, it took us nearly a year to reach the point that we had everything we wanted and didn't need anything else at that point I cancelled my account but carried on buying stuff through my MIL that was still a member. You can buy stuff one off whenever but if you are a member you get a big discount, that was the incentive to stay a member I guess.

Also to respond to the point of why a 'new' user would bother commenting if they weren't affiliated and join, I was about to do that til I remembered I was a member of boards ages ago. Actually, I was totally prepared to join and comment as just a user.

Not everyone has the time to spend hanging out on boards all the time

I guess I can admit I am a lurker, read stuff, but only when I really care about something will I post.

I am definitely not trying to convince anyone, as I wasn't personally convinced myself to stick it out, we are thinking of getting it again just because I liked the lack of harsh chemicals and we just had our first baby. I don't know what to tell you, it works, but the monthly thing is definitely off-putting.

well recently ive been introduced to a company that provides a members discount to its customers , 30-40% all produce are safe for family no nasty ingredients and great for the environment . This for me was interesting but then the option to make money referring new customers was all so something that i like the sound off .
Does anyone have experience with this company or just reviews on the products I have read about people not fully reading small print and receiving items they didnt want and unable to cancel there orders .
But my understanding is they didnt fully understand the term when they signed up . where it stated that and account cancellation has to be done before the 25th of the month . But there are no reviews from Ireland .
Please reply with your experience as im still not sure .

I am a young 25 year old girl. Never was I interested in any kind of MLM etc call it how you want it. But then my parents, who are very experienced with MLM, told me about melaleuca. Ok I thought, me and my boyfriend are very health concerned and I just recently read an article about how cancer causing all the things that we use on a daily basis are and so I signed up for it.

I had the choice to order for catalog prices WITHOUT ANY COMMITMENT or commit monthly with the chance to cancel this whenever I want. (so definitely no pyramid system

) I really liked the idea that I was not pushed into committing monthly but after looking at their products I sat down and wrote a list...turns out I spend monthly way more than 35 product points (ca.40 pounds) when I shop for household and beauty product. And what do I get for it? nothing...so I thought I just commit and try it 1-2 months and I will probably sign out again when I see I order too much of things that I dont need...well here I am 6 months later just finished my new order and already know what I will order next month

The products are great! And if you are a preferred customer they come way cheaper than in the shop! Plus, although I am a student, and like to save money I really do not want to save on my health. I feel much better cleaning with products that are organic and THE LAUNDRY SMELLS FANTASTIC!!!! If you dont believe me, if you live near London I come buy and do the laundry for you! hahaha
My boyfriend is a Personal Trainer and orders their sports nutrition and we love their vitamins! Oh and face care!!! love it! everyone who has a bit of skin problems try it, it really helps! I stopped using makeup to cover my face, not joking

I could go on and on about their products...

So if you want to know anything more just message me.....
I can recommend the products but everyone should try them on their own and make up their mind...

well this only happens if you are a preferred customer, a customer that signed up for ordering monthly....what I usually do is that i have a back up order ready if i wont manage to order by the last day of the month...

BUT if you are normal customer who only shops with them from time to time you dont even have the option for a backup order

:P

A summary for ordering with melaleuca:

Normal customer: order what you want, whenever you want ...NO COMMITMENT

just like a basic online shop

Preferred Customer: receive 30-40% discount off you order when you commit to order monthly AND you can cancel it if for some reason you are not happy with it:)

This is true, also are the products medically tested specifically the creams etc? Are they tested by independant bodies to prove they are better than competing products etc? If your product is good enough and advertised well enough you dont need one of these "schemes" to sell it, espeically if you are a multi-billion-dollar corporation as was mentioned in previous posts
