Done Yesterday...finally what annoyed me most about the car has been corrected! Wasn't feeling it too much so it was an 85% improvment...but only some small corrections left.

It may have been asked before, but I'll ask anyway ...

Did one of the previous owners wash it using a brillo pad or what? Just stunned at the amount of fine scratches you've had to buff out, and the directions of them would suggest it wasn't a brush wash thats to blame.

I'm guessing a sponge with some sharp grit??? Who knows

All was revealed when I washed the car after getting it...car was priced to sell due to the condition it was in thankfully nothing major as off yet.

although I was looking into this a while ago and making up ... a plastic container under the cover with a drainage tube seems to be the bodge fix that works well..must get around to doing this now that you mention it.:P

Replaced the fan-belt on the Shed after the engine decided to snack on it on Saturday. €12 & 10 mins = job done.

Still somewhat baffled that someone would fit a brand new alternator, yet leave the (presumably original) tired & frayed belt fitted.

I was looking at the first pic before I scrolled and taught, wow that's impressive look at the reflection on that bonnet. Fk me I have to get a DA I taught. It's still a good effort though.

All shouted at/cleaned/replaced with German components

Ya was looking that up just last night, it's meant to last for ages... Must try some. Do you guys know if certain waxes suit certain colours better?

Clicky - this link gives a bit more info and explains it better than I could!

As always, prepartation is the key....so if prep'd well, HD Wax or EGP will look great too....as would white with a wax, but sealants just give it that little bit extra.

The reason I'm asking is I heard the products I used are better on darker colours. My car is silver, so was curios what would work best

There are waxes or sealants made specifically for light coloured cars. I can't think of what it's called but it's made by the same company who make Black Hole.

Anyway here's what I was bawling about earlier on:

There's a lot more air getting into the turbo faster now. As you can see, the neck of the old one is almost pinched shut whereas the new one is the same with the whole way down.

It was at the rubber coupling that the air was leaking under boost due to the rubber being auld and rotten. No more leak

My all terrains turned up for the Caravelle. Also the right hand outer CV-joint needed doing.

And while we're at it, I have this skid pan flying about for a while. Compared to the normal VW mud guard, this protects the oil sump also and it's 2mm steel plate, powdercoated. So a rock will not even have a chance at buggering stuff up.

Skid-pan fit.

And my Yokohama Geolander All Terrains in 235/60/16 fit on 16" Borbet A alloys.

Next up is the offroad suspension.

Jet seal is officially the best i've used after testing them all, it's very, very good.
