For all my fear of them I don't like killing them either, the one and only method of eradicating them myself is the hoover. (so I can keep a safe distance)

Spiders have tried to capture me (by the face) in their webs a number of times. Just because it's easy to escape their murder attempts, it doesn't make them cute.
I usually flatten them with a CD case.
