Friend of mine loves running in the hills but had awful problems a while back and surgeons wanted to operate. He decided against it and got a great program from a physio. He didn't run for 3 months but he hasn't looked back since. Running downhill would definitely expose any weakness especially if you weren't in top physical condition (i.e. a fat bastard) when doing so
