Looking for some suggestions on clubs or social groups in Sligo Town. In my early 30's looking to be part of something and meet people but am unable to take part in most sports due to injury.

The Trades Club on Castle street is open during the day from 12-2 as a Cafe and is frequented by all sorts of folks.

Stick your head in if you're passing and see what's happening.

Yeah. I looked into and became involved with the Trades Club at the time, became a committee member but they are kind of going through a transitional period trying to locate a new home. They are still running events, in the Adelaide in Wine Street car park but unfortunately they do not have a place for people to just drop-in anymore.

I wouldn't really be into the talk thing but the drawing would be something I would look into if it runs again after this month. I was down last year to watch a french film called Little White Lies and must head back down again soon. Do you know if there is a film club?

There was a film club for a while but it wasn't linked to The Model cinema/is inactive at the moment - if you do some googling you might find some info.

I think a philosophy discussion group started recently. If you take one of The Model event guides you might find some more info.

With the nights now getting longer something to do would help ease the pain. Just letting people know that Drink and Draw is active in the town. It doesn't cost anything and you don't have to be an artist to come along, it's just for fun. All you need is a pencil a sketching pad and your imagination (or if like me just a picture of something to draw).

Oh, just to mention that despite the name "Drink and Draw" no one will me forcing you to drink anything, it is only a name. You are a big person now, you can make up your own mind whether or not you want a drink while sketching.

we are all in our 30's at the min but as it is in a pub it would be any age over 18. we turn up to mcgarrigles on o'connell street, we do a bit of sketching, do a bit of chatting, have a pint (in my case a few pints), in general enjoy ourselves. i tend draw things that might be infront of me and am by no means gods gift to sketching. there is usually an open mic session or a band playing so there is no shortage of entertainment. the guy who runs it is planning to put some posters up in the IT and around the town to get more people.
