€180 maybe ... more if the OS is a legitimate Windows 7 Ultimate Retail. 64-bit OS with only 3 GB RAM doesn't make much sense anyway.

The 2.8 GHz P4 used in this series doesn't feature Hyperthreading, 50-60 Euro tops for the machine. As for the monitor it depends on size and format, a 19" 4x3 flatpanel might get you 40 Euro, less it if it's smaller in size.

Cheers Torquay:) Disk drive jammed tried the paper clip trick think the disk is actually jammed in some quare fashion in the drive think ill fust flog the whole thing for fifty. thanks for your info by the way !

I'd rather upgrade the RAM to 800 MHz (PC2-6400), ~60 Euro new, a lot cheaper if you get them 2nd hand (has to be 4 x 1 GB). If she's not looking forward to playing the latest and greatest games, the computer is certainly good for a few more years.

64-Bit OS doesn't make much sense on that machine either.

need a 64bit OS to detect 4GB of RAM which she needs for light gaming and photoshop plus the max ram speed the motherboard supports is 533MHz, the machine is still very much quick for gaming it's even playing skyrim on mid/high setting @ 1680x1050 but I think a SSD would help her big time for her photoshop work and for loading all those pesky Sims 3 mods and expansions

my mistake it supports up to 667MHz not 533MHz but it won't run ram at 800MHz i tired it before and it was capped at 667 i heard you can get it to support it by updating the bios but i rather not risk it andways still have heard anything for it's worth yet =P

Ah now... nothing risky or complicated with updating a Dell BIOS. You'll even get the update as an exectuable to run within Windows, very straight forward.

Their's always a risk though that it'll **** it up.

I was updating....one of these the other day, couldn't be easier, stick the new firmware on a thumbdrive, stick it the WD, turn it on and it'll find it and you just click OK a few times...dandy, well if it didn't freeze for no good reason in the middle of it:eek::eek::eek::mad: (it wasn't mine:rolleyes:) left it for a good 3 hours and nothing...:mad:, had no choice but to pull the plug and hope for the best on restart....but what did it give me...a big huge skull and bones for a couple of secs, critical error blah blah and then....insert firmware:eek:, it worked the next time no probs.:rolleyes: fecking thing.

You have no idea how long folks have been waiting waiting for the 1.1.4 update (1.1.6 is current). The 533 MHz memory was a real bottleneck and really annoying with a C2Q processor. Tis like driving your car with the handbrakes on.

64-bit addressing is just one of the many advantages of a 64-bit OS. If you don't understand what a 64-bit OS is (and you don't), don't give advice about it.

Yeah, and the most common computer programs do your 64-bit addressing either utterly flawed or only in test versions (i.e. web browsers or media players). For most users there is little advantage (I didn't say there aren't any, mind you). We'll soon see 128-bit general purpose microprocessors and yet 64-bit software is still by and large in it's infancy and we will be stuck for a good while with hybrid 64-bit operating systems catering for both architectures.

No, nothing of the sort... if you look at the screenshot, you should know: "Windows 2003 Server" and "Physical Address Extension" is the giveaway.

Apparently, the Dell Optiplex 360 features "hot-add memory" which automatically enables PAE in Windows 2003... since I haven't set the switch in the boot.ini:
