Both sides have a responsibility here. But he still has to take responsibility for his own greed. He took a gamble with his own money and lost and now he has to face the consequences of that. Why should he be able to stay in his house that is currently way beyond his means? Because the banks are corrupt? Are we all queuing up for 2m euro houses? Nobody wants to see anyone homeless, but the bailiffs did not just arrive at his door out of the blue, he has had 2 years to sort himself out and he chose not to.

don't be under any illusion that gilmore or his fat cats are in government for the people. they are in there to get their fat pensions - once they are secure they will waddle off and live the lifestyle they always wanted, not giving a toss about the people they are supposed to represent.

as a side note, gilmore, every time I see him seems to be more and more bloated - he is beginning to resemble a giant chipmunk

Banks are people and this spending like wild mentality was rampant through all levels of society. Of course, they were lending. Their bonuses depended on it. They were gambling, customers were gambling.

Kenny didn't even meet with them afaik. They went to an industrial estate where he was pretending to have something to do with some new jobs being created and approached him afterwards.

They were living Rent free for two years. Are you and I supposed to pick up the bill for them while they continue to live in the house ?

Hmmm... The Indo splashed on it today, with a half page more on p3. Their reporter and photographer were there before the eviction began, according to the reporter herself. The tone of the coverage is very emotive, "women crying", "silver haired pensioners", "putting two people out of their home","gardai looked on, unable to intervene".

It only rates p4 briefs in the Irish Times and the Examiner...

The media are only interseted because this story is getting so much coverage.

The moment everyone realises that these gob****es got what was coming to them and interest wanes, there will be no more media circus.

The media couldn't give a sh*t about this couple... but as long as people are tuning in to radio stations and buying newpapers on them, they will keep getting publicity.

Its actually a 'non home ownership' tax. A tax levied on those who rent or are over 18 but live at home and so are not contributing via house hold charge, water rates, septic tank rates etc.
