Oh, and that's the other reason I wouldn't get one - you have to rip the damn thing apart to remove the stand so you can use VESA mounts. :P

I might take you up on that at some pont TB, cheers. (Factoring my laziness into the equation though, it'll probably be in the distant future.)

something to keep in mind, 2560*1440p is a serious resolution. its four times the res of 720p, so depending on the games you play, you're going to need quite a beefy GPU. my 6990 gets its ass handed to it at ultra settings on BF3. I've to turn down AA to 2x

btw it is weird power connector on it. it is not using standart power connection like all of the PC stuff these days?

the connector into the monitor is odd, but the connector into the actual power brick is a standard kettle lead.

I think I've decided on what to upgrade my PC with around when GK110 comes out.
3 x IPS monitors and possibly a GK110 card.
So that brings me to this question, U2312HM or U2412M? There's €150 in the difference and I am wondering what that extra €50 per monitor would bring.

I got the Dell 23" but It looked too small in length for my liking and too rectangular so I returned it.
The extra length of the Dell2412 will suit me I think. I have yet to purchase it though.

its even better for office work!
I do lab reports on mine, and i can have a full page excel spreadsheet on one side, and a full sized word/LaTex document on the other. no alt-tabbing anymore!

It's an extra 200,000 pixels per monitor. 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080. I think the extra vertical resolution would be worthwhile, especially in an eyefinity where it's where you're going to have a longer horizontal range. Since you're buying them in the one go, you don't have to worry about the availability of 1920x1200 in the future.

The boogiebug I've heard is great but from owning both the G500 and the similarly priced DeathAdder I feel the DeathAdder is much better.

I was thinking about that, but I'm not certain about whether it's worth €150 just for a slightly taller display. It would also end up being slightly more taxing on my graphics cards.

I've had neither, but my 5 year old Logitech is beginning to give up the ghost, and from what it looks like, the G500 is bigger, which is more in my comfort zone. Unless I'm completely wrong :pac:

While I'm here, going to need a keyboard for my new build, which obviously I won't be getting off HWVS due to German layout. Probably looking to spend about 50 quid on it, thinking of a Sidewinder X6 or similar. Suggestions welcome!

this is the thing that scares me. why not 1080p, but 1920x1200, plus i havent seen many monitors which are doing this resolution. u2312 looks like better choice then, i would not have problems finding extra monitors for surround.

23.6 vs 24 inch barely has any difference i guess.

Monitors with 1920x1200 were far more common that 1920x1080 before. It's just the push of that resolution in the tv industry that's made it go to 1080. The monitor manufacturers save with chopping off those extra pixels too.

x1200 have been in decline but it's likely that you'll always find a few around, similar to what's there now as there's still a bit of demand for them. If you were just buying a single monitor an wanted to maximise your options for eyefinity, it would be no harm in getting a x1080 monitor - remember that you need the same resolution but not necessarily the same size, so you could have something like 23'' monitors on the peripherals and a larger monitor like 25'' in the centre.

I'd say go for it. I'm torn between the U2312HM & U2412 for my next monitors. I build a rig lately with three no. 2412's for a mate (same type e-IPS panel), and the colours are stunning compared to a TN panel. TBH I think 8ms is fine for gaming.

Also you can strip the bezels piss easy on the Dells.

The 2412 is €50 euro dearer than 2312 not €150

Go for the 24". The 23" is very rectangular imo. Everyone is different though.

ordered u2312hm. i went for it, because its 1080p. all that 1920x1200 does not sit well, when you take in to account that i will be going multy monitor setup. so worse case scenario i will get one more u2312hm and use my old 1080p monitor for surround setup.

it says 3-4 days for delivery by post. so i guess thursday/friday!
