The "What's That Song" Thread [ PLEASE READ ]

Due to a overwhelming litter of Song ID threads cluttering the forum.. from August 13th 2006, the forum now has a new policy on this.

Everything related to a song ID HAS to be posted in this thread and this thread only.

Any "what's that song" type posts made outside of this thread will be deleted without hesitation.

And also would like to avoid any real discussion in the thread besides requests for a song ID, identification of a song and acknowledge / thanks for the ID. Not really a strict policy on this but if i see a discussion going on for 10 posts about how great a particular song is or something to that effect, i will delete it due to simply cluttering up the thread.

Hi, im trying to remember the name of a song that i used to hear on Mid West radio when i was growing up in Mayo. It was more spoken than sang and the gist of the song was that there was a family that were poor, the only son had to move away to england to work and many years later, when the the family home was being sold out from under the feet of the mother, the son returns as the mystery buyer. The only line i can clearly remember is towards the end, "Mother, do you not know your own son?" ( not much to go on i know!!!). Sorry for the quality....It didn't turn out as well as i expected, well thats freeware for ya. The song is quite a mellow one I heard on phantom a few weeks ago.

I found a free app for android phones (galaxy s included) called shazam which works really well at identifying tunes if you point the mouthpiece of your phone at the source of the song, ie laptop or radio speakers. Works well for me. Hope mods don't mind me sharing that info!

Anyone know then name of the song on the ad for The Mentalist on RTE at the moment? I think the chorus goes something like ''oh oh oh oh, i've got a love that keeps me waiting'' . . .or something! Have searched everywhere, and I seem to recognise it . . .it sounds a bit like Kasabian I think?! They only play a second of it clearly on the ad.

I need a song. Its from last year. An Irish group, the video takes place in Dublin on the streets. Really upbeat, electronic beats...some words are "no i won't worry". Think its in an ad now too.

Folks, I'm wondering if you can help me. I don't listen to much of what's in the charts so I'm kinda snookered in trying to figure out who and what this song is.

I've caught some of a chorus lately and it sounds catchy. The singer sounds like Kylie Minogue (the shame I know) but I'm not sure if it is her. Anywhoo all I know of the chorus is the lady is singing something that sounds And Iiiiiiiiiii love you-ou-ou-ou-OU............ it's dragged out a bit and raises in pitch towards the end.

Does that make sense to anyone? Do you have any idea which song I'm talking about? I think it's a fairly recent release.

Edit: I think I remember part of the chorus. It might be something like:

'I believe in love, I believe in love, I believe in love, I believe in you'.

I heard this on in a store today in Dublin I've forgotten most of the lyrics but it had some religious imagery. Moses was definately mentioned, there were also "reach" and "teach", could have been about reaching god. It reminded me a little bit of Son of A Peeacher Man with those lyrics but it was a much more modern sounding song.

Any ideas? I really want to hear it again.

Being new to the thread, I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but there are websites you can to to sing a portion of the melody of a song, and it can often tell you what song it is.
