Mocks Thread 2012 - read first post before posting

MOD NOTE, PLEASE READ.

So it's that time of the year when the whole subject of mocks is becoming very topical, and naturally enough I'm sure people want to talk about them. So here's a thread for that, but we need to establish some rules so this runs smoothly and as it should.

Please restrict ALL discussion of mocks 2012 to this thread. Other threads may be deleted or closed.

Rules:

NO POSTING OF MOCK PAPERS: Any posts of the actual papers will be deleted and the user posting them will be banned.

USE SPOILER TAGS: If you are referring to any specific material on any Mock paper, make sure to use spoiler tags so that people who don't want to know what's on a given paper won't see. A spoiler looks like this: Spoiler: Your text here. To use spoiler tags, type [ SPOILER ] *spoiler here*[ /SPOILER ] without spaces or click the spoiler icon.

We don't encourage people to post info, and we certainly don't encourage people to read...I can't stop any of you from cheating but I can advise you to just not do it...you're not doing yourselves any favour, you're not going to know what's on the exam in June beforehand. These are to give you an idea of timing/marking/weak areas before the real thing. Aside from that, they mean nothing. There's no need to worry about them, and there's certainly no need to cheat.

However, we recognise that you are all old enough to be responsible for your own actions here, and at least this system means that if people are going to post or seek for hints, they are confined to one thread and others can avoid them.

This policy has evolved in this forum over a number of years: it may not be perfect, but we have found it to be the best compromise. This thread is NOT to be used for arguing with those who choose to post or look for hints.

All standard boards.ie rules apply here: no flaming, trolling, personal abuse or spamming. Please remember that txtspeak is NOT welcome on Boards. Using large font / multi-coloured text is also both unwelcome and unnecessary.

If you have an issue with a moderation decision, please PM the Mod in question. Do not argue about Mod decisions on thread.

A bit of clarification on what does and doesn't need to be in spoiler tags:

"English was dire, I ran out of time. My drama question was so rushed." = This is fine. You're not giving away any information about the specific content of the paper. No spoilers needed, post away!

"English was dire, I had no idea what to say for the hero question for Romeo and Juliet." = This is not fine. Spoilers please.[/B]

Ok i have 2 and a half weeks to my mocks. and have only done abit of study,
My question is would i be able to study everything before the exams start and how long each day ?

Your teachers will probably have to make the Italian one themelves - I don't think either of the main mock companies does an Italian paper. They will probably give you one from the last 3 years if they do not make up their own paper.

I am in the middle of my first week so far in my mocks and im freaking out

can someone please please help me?
All my exams so far have been top right barcode (W) so id say that there all going to be them. I have gone through all of the 50 or so pages but my laptop wont let me copy and paste so im freaking out!
I was looking for help for HL Business Studies (Both papers)
HL English (both papers)
HL Religion
HL History (long questions)
HL French
HL Science
I have done HL Irish (both papers) HL Maths ( both papers) HL Geography , CSPE, and my school lets me take the papers home so i can help anyone who needs it!

Thanks, it will more than likely be a mixture of past exams, (similar to my xmas exam)

quick question, is the french exam similar for italian?

for italian (hl)

i have about 6 reading comprehensions
then 2 letters
then 2 grammar questions

I hear people worrying & ocomplaining about french all the time, but italians one of the easiest exams u can do

then we do an oral exam worth 40% (which is dead easy to get full marks in)

so even if you dont study for the written exam & get 50% in it, if ya prepare for the oral you can get a B

The listening is quite hard, I'll admit, but it's do-able

So what's french like? & why is it hard?

In French there's listening, which I think is really doable if you can hear the key words.
There's about 8 comprehensions which again are easy
You then have a note or postcard and a letter, formal or informal. Overall I think it's not too bad. Italian sounds way harder with a grammar Q and an oral :L

oral is the easiest thing you'll ever do, its basically learn 8 setences off by heart and get 40%

and grammar is wayy different to french, so trust me when i say its more than easy lol

hardest part in italian is the listening, but even thats easy

Had it today, went grand

the listening said "dublin examination board" at the start, but there wasnt any barcodes on the paper

strange, it seems DEB do listenings, but not papers?

Maybe it was an old one, or one of the teachers got a friend to do it.
I know had DEB offered an Italian mock, we would have ordered it, but they didn't.

I had science top left today, went okay.
KNOW;

-Deifinition of hook's law,
-What is a catylyst,
-A test for oxygen
-A test for carbon dioxide
-How to show protein is present in food
-Characteristics of plastics
-NaOH + HCl
-Urinary system/fnctions of some of the parts of it
-Motor/sensory nerves
-Pressure (in a bit of detail)
-Distillation
-Difference between alcohol and mercury thermometer.
-How to calculate the cost of a microwave being used for 3 hours

-Oxygen bohrs diagram.
-LDR -Light dependant resistor.

The last two can actually be found in a log tables book and you are allowed to use one in the science exam.

Now I need Woodwork and French in as much detail as possable,
No harm if you don't do woodwork but I'm desperate for french.
I need:
-Letter
-Note
-comprehension topics/words/things I should know.
