Why do people slag people with Red/Ginger/Auburn Hair so much?

just wondering why do people jeer and make fun of people with this colour hair so much? i mean the stuff that is said to them is really hurtful sometimes and makes people feel so ugly the want to dye it. not all gingers are ugly even, the best looking girl in my year has auburn/brownish hair like. i have brown hair but i'm just wondering if people feel bad about jeering someone for being overweight, having bad skin or other appearance issues why do they say hurtful things about gingers so much?

is laughing and making someone feel bad about their appearance not only a form of bullying but just a sign of immaturity? I'm 18 and i've heard girls say "I don't like her." "why" "because her hair is so ginger."

Its down to an anti-Irish attitude that has been taken up here by the young people who lap up everying British and American. They hate it because its a Celtic trait.

I have dark red / auburn hair and really, getting teased was something that ended way back in primary school. By the time everyone's matured enough, they start to realise that bottle blondes are a dime a dozen, and that most red head chicks do in fact live up to their kinky reputation

I'm a redhead, and get the whole no soul thing thrown at me, by friends, jokingly. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, in my opinion if you can't laugh at yourself or take the piss out of yourself you're an uptight cnut.

Same here Gunslinger, When I was a kid it really used to bug me but its all a bitta fun in my opinion but there are people who can take it too far sometimes. Havent taken it personally in years... Although I will say, went travelling in Thailand last year and went trekking with a guide to this village in the middle of no where... They had never seen a redhead in there lives and actually asked the guide if I was the devil hahahahaha!... Got a great laugh outta that, was waiting for them to pull out the big cooking pot.:D:D
