The Religion of Aliens
starbelgrade
It strikes me as quite odd that some are absolutely certain that there is no God, but seem to be very open to the fact (or totally believe that) aliens exist.
I mean there is no proof that either exist. The retort that there "must be more intelligent life" is as convincing to me as "there must be a God".
So is the belief in aliens just like a religion for the science fiction enthusiasts or is there more to it than that?

wouldnt that only work if an infinite amount of time had passed.
after infinite time in an infinite universe that wasn't expanding faster than the speed of light it the temperature would be infinite
the cosmic microwave background radiation temperature is 2.725K which sets a limit for the energy density of the early universe which in turn sets a limit to the number of possible planets etc. for aliens to evolve on
and let's not forget that you need supernova to create metals so only second generation stars could possibly support life as we know it.
even the brightest of the dinosaurs had tiny brains compared to birds and mammals today and that on a tectonically active planet with large tides and variable seasons due to orbital tilt, not to mention all the good stuff having a moon does, means that the chances of intelligent life evolving on another planet by now aren't great
