I saw my fair share of these before I deactivated my account.

One of the worst came from an american 'friend'(?) of mine.

She said and I quote:
"Ughhh so stupid...I have to get a visa to go to south america! I mean seriously isn't this the UNITED sates! Ahhhhh....Worst state ever!"

She was promptly removed from my friends list.

I saw in my newsfeed that one of my FB friends had commented on a photo of a missing person on a page that appeals for information on missing people in Ireland.

Fair enough, but when I clicked through to the page, I noticed that each announcement was accompanied by between ten and twenty "likes."

What does it mean if you "like" the appeal for help with someone's disappearance?

Also, on the most recent appeal, some woman wrote "Come home _____, it's too wet out there tonight!" It was only missing a LOL.

The text-to-speech voice can't even understand this :P (http://text-to-speech.imtranslator.net/). Normally it tries pronouncing things, here it just lists a string of letters and finishes on "doh ha!" :S
