So youve gotten a hundred Euro discount from FNAC to purchase a tablet from their website

What are people opinions on the best one

(i suppose this thread is more so for the folks who got the 100 Euro discount from the whole Touchpad mess up)

But how and ever it is still Android related.

Thoughts?

I am not sure man. New to the tablet scene myself.

BUT if you look at the offer page now, they have reduced the prices of some of the tablets. €20 off on most.

What about the Acer Iconia Tab? How does that rate against the Archos?
I notice it is reduced at the moment so you cant apply the voucher but it was available for €349 before and with voucher brings it down to €249 plus shipping. Is it worth the extra €50??

Given that quad processors etc may be here by year end, the extra money spent on the xoom mightn't be the best investment and picking up the cheaper tab may be a better option

Potential uses from getting a tablet as i have a laptop and a desktop:

Gmail
Browsing
Youtube
RTE Player & 4oD
Google Docs
watching some shows from a USB stick

I am sure the 101 G9 can do all that for me, but the small amount of ram (512Mb) has me a bit concerned.

I guess just be mindful of the amount of apps you have open, let Android work behind the scenes or install an app killer.

If you can have a browse while watching RTE player or 4oD and no real lag on the machine then that would suffice.

I am tempted as i have a FNAC voucher.

What is putting me off is the voice in my ear saying:

For another €150 you could get a Xoom
The limited memory will limit my enjoyment of the Tablet

But i need to get a new PC to play BF3 so €200 really is my budget and as it is my first Tablet, get an entry-level one and i could always sell it for near enought the price i paid for it.

Thoughts anyone?

Comes with Android 3.2(Honeycomb).

I've used RTE player and 4 OD on it, both work fine.

The only issue I had was the Android market one. I was able to apply a fix, Archos have recognized this problem and will address on the next firmware update:

I ordered the 32Gb Xoom using the voucher! Not as good value as the Archos but still a good price!!

It's so frustrating tracking the order! watching it arrive in a sorting office... sit there for ages and then move to another! Ordered last weekend and it only left the Brussels sorting office at 2am last night

went with the G9 myself just now for a christmas present. At this stage i think it is going to be the best value i can get out of voucher for the 200 euro mark... and i was checking the fnac voucher list waaay to often ! , so done and done now.

Happy days, you'll be able to track it via dhl's website when you get a tracking number (I think if you click where it says 'Shipped' you'll get it there).

If you have problems downloading apps from the market(I did) they have a fix on there for this issue which worked for me.

Also, there have been 2 firmware updates for the G9 tablets since they were released (Nothing major, just bug fixes and tweaks).

You should be OK I'd say, it's a brand new tablet so they will be getting new stock in soon I'd say.

The 8.9" Archos ssd 32gb (70 euro more expensive than the 3rd party link underneath it) and I think the 3g motorola xoom for 499.

Don't think that Archos is a g9.

They really are not making much of an effort.

AFAIK you still cannot buy an Archos g9 anywhere. Not yet on sale.
