I'm living in the US and one of the things that struck me was how little the simpsons had an impact here compared to back home.

Every evening at 6 you'd check the channel 4 simpsons and the rte one and see if it was new or a repeat you prefered. That was every day at 6, you'd get a dose for years and years.

Now we all know the latest episodes are sh*te, but it is charming to me that we can all relate and ryhme off quotes easily while the Americans I live with haven't a clue what I'm on about if I use a simpsons quote.

So in conclusion;

I can't bring myself to watch it strangely enough the only cartoon I can watch now
is South Park, Gummy Venus de Milo was one of my favourites though

My favorite episode by far is the one where Liam Neeson guest stars as a Catholic priest who converts Bart and Homer.

Homer trying to convince Marge to convert as well " Catholics rule! We’ve got Boston, South America and the good part of Ireland."

Liam Neeson after Rev Lovejoy kidnaps Bart to convert him back " If I don't stop it I'll be the worst priest ever, well, apart from, you know..."

There's plenty more gems in the episode as well

There's very few, if any, Simpsons quotes I can remember offhand. Most of the ones that people constantly repeat aren't remotely funny out of context.

Much as I used to like The Simpsons, when someone replies to a thread by quoting something from it I usually have no idea what they're talking about. Someone replied to me before by saying "don't you hate pants?" and I had no idea what the hell they were going on about.
