I'd just like to know what did people think of the festivals and events that were held in Waterford this year. Do you think they were too many?

Nope. It was just unfortunate timing for Spraoi that the Tall Ships was so close.

There are actually two less festivals with the loss of the opera and fringe Fests.

If they're all organised well and are spaced out then it can only be good for the city.

Yes they need to be spaced out, the Tall Ships festival was superb and I thought the Spraoi Festival was poor when compared to the Tall Ships but if the Tall Ships hadn't been on then the Spraoi Festival would have been great as they were too close together and the Tall Ships was so well run we got spoilt.

tall ships was brilliant,Spraoi was great in the Park,but no attention to detail on the city centre, there need to be a night time parade and maybe fireworks to give the city a buzz
btw - well done to harvest festival, great gig last night in Bolton st, Great Food, i made a pig of myself with Sushi, noodles and later some made tasting sausages in blaas.
Also, Revolution did the bar with Metalman Breweries, a great local beer, and now they have MetalMan Altenerator, a spicy Wheat Beer, excellent, and well done. never defore have i seen a festival bar with Mojitos, Spirits, Local Beers.
The Music started with Brass & Co, great performance, not enough ppl, but by the time The stunning came on the place was mental, WELL DONE ALL INVOLVED, great for the city

I must agree that we were really spoiled for the Tall Ships.. the smile on my face was there for the entire weekend.. best fun i had all year

, Amazing food + drink, music, weather, atmosphere and it was so well run i could not fault a single part of the weekend!!

I only got to see the Friday of sproai but had a brilliant time watching Torann on the plaza and then Great Ocean Divide in Sal's.. also caught another act in Murphys and then up to Downes for a few night caps ;-)

Didnt make the harvest fest or blue grass although i had planned to.. money has run dry till next year..

Harvest festival technically is still going on, the huge food market will be on this Sunday.

Tall Ships was just fantastic all weekend and was definetly the best event the city has ever hosted. Bluegrass was good craic when I was out there last Sunday. The Waterford Music Fest was a cracking day with some great acts playing here in Waterford and as always I also enjoyed the Spraoi, we have been spoiledfor entertainment this year in Waterford and longmayit continue!

just a pity the opera festival is cancelled, was great last year. and the school event was oversubscribed to an unbelieveable extent!

2011 will go down as a vintage year due to the Tall Ships, but what is in the works for 2012?

Ideally you'll have something which people flock to annually - look at what the Galway Races Festival and the Arts Festival do for their economy. Difficult market to break into, but you've got to admire them - and we should be using them as a positive example.

Personally, I think a Beer Festival would have huge potential, as was mooted here earlier in the year, particularly with the growing local micro breweries. Limerick has tied booze and sport quite well with their Pig N' Porter Festival - which involves a tag rugby tournament, pigs on spits and porter, obviously.

Tall ships was excellent, Waterford music Fest was simply amazing, spraoi I thought was only ok, bluegrass was good this year no drunken teenagers hanging around

If anyone's interested I'm holding a Muay Thai Event This Saturday in the Forum.

It's starting at 3pm with up and coming Amateur fighters and then at 6pm the Professionals take over with the main event being full Thai Rules and the show finishes at 10pm.
