Also 'homes of donegal' by paul brady always gets me when im away from home for long periods

Yellow By coldplay always gets me, my dad died of cancer when this was out and it reminds me of him, I'm very much into the likes of the prodigy, cypress hill, etc etc but my Sis caught me shedding a tear to yellow one day and has been calling me dime bar since and I love her even more for it.

These days the pregnancy hormones mean that there's no rhyme or reason to what songs will make me start bawling, however prior to being pregnant that 'Postcards from Heaven' song used to have me blubbering away in the car, I'd have to change the stations.

One of my nearest and dearest friends committed suicide in March of 2010. He was 22. This song was played at his funeral. The tears were literally flowing like waterfalls down my face. I had managed to keep it relatively together for most of the service, which included a small reading his family asked me to do, but not when they played "Everybody Hurts."

The summer before my friend died, my uncle died aged 39. He was mentally handicapped and everything just seemed to go wrong for the guy. He was very, very sick and never ever got a fair shot at life. He had kidney failure, and heart problems. As a result of these heart problems he couldn't undergo a transplant, for which myself and every other family member were prepared to give a kidney.

He also had some form of degenerative bone disease in his hip, which resulted in him having to get a false hip on one side at a very young age. As a result he couldn't run, or walk for very long, one leg was shorter than the other.

I still get upset thinking about him to this day, I was very close with him, as that is how our family is.

I played and sang "Hear You Me" song at his funeral.

Perhaps what is most upsetting is the fact that he didn't understand why he had to keep going in and out of hospital. He couldn't speak very well at all, akin to a baby learning to speak, but we could make out words and understood what he meant, having known him for so long. But he asked us if he was in hospital because he was "bold". It was and still is truly heartbreaking.

This both upsets me and makes me smile. Although his mind hadn't developed properly, he certainly did things his way. I was often charged with looking after him, but he still knew he was my uncle, and as a result he had to think he was the boss! And like the lyrics, he certainly did take the blows.
