Where's the best place to leave in old books?

I've a load of books I want to get rid of and I've been told that charity shops don't want them as they've plenty, I don't know if that's true, I'll probably ring around a few to see but if anyone knows a place in town that would be happy to take them please let me know.

There is a book store on The Mall that will pay you for some books or give store credit for them they don't take everything but bring them all in and the guy will go through and take what he wants. Cant remember the name of it now but its up past the library.
Charity stores do usually take them try the one in tesco car park

Also you could recycle them rather than burn them

The last lot of books I had I took them to the second hand book shop in Ballymote, never again...the man was so rude to me.

I see Homebase have second hand books on sale in aid of a teenage cancer charity, so I don't know if members of the public can leave them there.

there's the place in abbey street that gives you money for them. they also pay for clothes.

Oh I didn't hear that although its been a few weeks since I was there or even walked by. I hope not was a lovely little store

Public can drop books into Homebase and they will sell me on from that stand with all proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. It started off with just the staff leaving in old books but all donations are welcome.

OP, you could drop them into Clearout on Abbey Street and get some money for them if the charity shops won't take them. You probably won't get loads as it's all weighed but something is better than nothing!

Don't worry folks, I won't burn them, I was only messin! I want to give them to someone who'll make good use of them, I'll check homebase in the morning and see if they want them.

They most definitely won't say no to them. When I was working there people used to come in with 3/4 big large boxes, anything donated is a bonus.

They sell second hand books in the shop at the Lifeboat station in Rosses Point. I'm sure they'd appreciate the donation.

I haven't been there since Xmas but I remember talk of it closing down. It was a lovely store, if not a little expensive for books though.
