Stadium one you get some items from time to time..

nes/snes *black box* power supply should suffice so no need for stepdown,im not sure what ps retr0 is using?

What games did you get?

I went and ordered the bootdisk for my new Gameboy Player and have decided against selling the US 'Cube and instead intend to pop in a region switch, so I can select US or Jap, and use my few NTSC games they way they were meant to be played!
Also going to look out for a game I've been after for a while, DrillLand, kinda the best of the Mr Driller games, on the Gamecube and never released outside Japan. I have played it via "other means" and it's excellent!

There's no point in getting a region switch on a Gamecube when a freeloader does the same job. Also I've not seen a Cube game that didn't support PAL 60 which means you're actually getting better resolution than on a US machine.

If you can pick up a component cable and have a cube that has the digital AV out, the 480p NTSC supported games look truly magic. That said, resident evil (remake) doesn't support it, which is a massive disappointment.

Its one of the rare instances when a PAL console is actually better than an NTSC one. The XenoGC chip in a PAL cube makes for a truly universal RGB, swap disc free experience. The chip is something like $10, well worth it

As bugs said though you can get component for the NTSC machines though. The Xbox and Dreamcast also had PAL 60 options although in the case of the Xbox Halo and Halo 2 had very poor PAL 60 conversions.

The PAL cube does RGB, the NTSC one does not. Modded PAL cube all day long really.

Well it doesn't natively output RGB, it can of course be made to do so - http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/gc-rgb.htm

The PAL60 thing though is the real seller.

I think the PAL cube will output a component signal as long as it has the digital AV out and is running a supported NTSC game (via freeloader).
Can't say for sure, but my cube is originally a PAL unit, i'm just using a chip to load NTSC games instead.
The jump in clarity over RGB is pretty impressive, way more than i expected, especially so on a modern LCD.

I used to have my Wii in RGB before moving to component and didn't notice too big of a jump in visual quality. The colours seeming a little brighter was the biggest difference. I kind of like the interlacing.

I don't have an RGB cable for my Wii at the moment and am playing it on a CRT with a composite cable. It's amazing how horrendous dot crawl is when you've gotten used to playing everything in RGB

I would have been of the same opinion, i didn't expect much. However, gamecube games don't look pleasant on a big LCD through RGB, blurred edges, washed out colours, etc. On component, it looks excellent, F-Zero and Mariokart are sharp and the detail shines through.

Did some reading about the operation of the custom IC chip within the component cable, but i've forgotten most of it, interesting that they would go to that degree with a cable though.
