HP Touchpad Thread (NO Discussion Of Personal Buying/Selling)

Just a heads up to people.

I'm in NY for the summer and I've just ordered 2 of these for $220.
HP have discontinued the Touchpad this week and are now letting them go for $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB).

I know most of you aren't in the USA but treat this as a heads up to get a very good tablet, with Flash Player, at a knock-down price.

Please note: We realise that this may be very disappointing but from a legal standpoint a contract does not exist between either party until your order has been accepted and delivered.

Got my rejection email from dabs. Like how they make sure you know you are screwed so don't bother.

It's rather poor. The relatively low-res resistive touch screen would put me off straight away. That and the 256MB of ram it ships with is the bare minimum required to run Android.

probably most likely - imagine alot of folk bought them to sell on - already know one guy offering me his for 300 smackers - laughed and told him to get lost.

at this stage, it looks like if you (like me :mad: ) don't have one in your grubby mits you're not getting one. (this week)
As near as I can tell my (and the rest of us) chances on getting one depend on:

Ebay/Adverts.ie in a few months once the hype has died down and the gougers get sick of them.
HP having a warehouse full of unsold stock to get rid of. (I think its likely that they have more stock to get rid of, but its a bit more dodgy where they choose to get rid of it)
The most unlikely one - I have an argos reservation number for the 31st till the 3rd. Argos being a big operation may have more stock in central warehouses waiting to ship out (a fact hinted at by what some people were told by argos staff)

Either way I would expect this not to have played out until the end of next week.

Now I just have to resist the temptation to blow that €150 or so on something else and be forced to eat canned beans off my touchpads for the rest of the month:D

same here with the payment reserved...but it simply means that they have reserved the money in case they send you the order....nothing to get excited about...
