HP Touchpad Thread (NO Discussion Of Personal Buying/Selling)

Just a heads up to people.

I'm in NY for the summer and I've just ordered 2 of these for $220.
HP have discontinued the Touchpad this week and are now letting them go for $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB).

I know most of you aren't in the USA but treat this as a heads up to get a very good tablet, with Flash Player, at a knock-down price.

It is totally out of stock in Cork (3 Argos shops). Thats what I was told by an assistant in Mahon. She did tell me they are getting more stock in 2-3 weeks.
As a previous post mentioned , she did call it the iPAD thingy.

People who ordered Monday evening from FNAC have received or have status as sent for their touchpads.

Not mine, order still pending, they took €1 off my credit card, that's all.

did you not ask tospeak to someone else?
had one reserved in cruises street not due til sat and got text this morn to say its in and will be kept til sept 1st,
had another one reserved in the crescent, just rang there and was told it will be released to me at 3 or kept for me until sat...

To be fair, there does seem to be some misinformation out there as evidenced by the response to Frash's phone enquiry and Pelemcg's experience in the same store.

When I asked the lady at the Jervis shop she said Argos will not be getting any more stock in future! Perhaps I should have dropped over at Ilac rather than take her word that all stock at their Dublin shops have been sold out.

celj, did you give up your extra reservation? Which shop was it made for?

Ebay would be the best best, I'd expect DealExtreme to come up with Touchpad cases as well shortly given that its reached cult like status now...

i have the same kinda thing for my ipod classic and it does the job - perfect to protect it if you're throwing it into a bag or something.

If any of the two are going spare I would gladly take one , checked the crescent yesterday and they had no idea what I was talking about, but I have no reservation, not holding out much hope for my expansys pre-order :mad:

Thanks to everyone here in this thread, finally got one today in Argos. Very happy with it. Took a long time, had given up hope after the amazon thing. To the people who didnt get one yet, dont give up, there is still a chance you might get one, its low but its not completely impossible to get one, especially with more stock being released in the USA soon. Great help this thread was. Hopefully the lurkers here contributed nothing, but just took, and who got one because of this thread will at least sign up and say thanks. The least you could do.

Now to dig into this!
