It's actually very common around the world in Muslim, Christian and other religious countries, hell it was common in Ireland up until the 1800's.

i don't recall saying every murder in Turkey is as a result of Muslim belief. I said this particular murder is indicative of the overall attitude towards women in the country as a consequence of the hold which the Muslim religion has on it.

But this murder had absolutely nothing to do with religion. None what-so-ever.

Run of the mill young man murdered two women because he wanted to marry ones daughter.

Nothing to do with religion. Just an ordinary run of the mill nut-job.

No, I'm saying the MURDER and actions of the man has nothing to do with the religion.

Thousands of people are killed in U.S and U.K. by young men in very similar situations, by we don't call out Religion as the reason because the odds are they are Christian.

For some bizarre reason when a Muslim commits a crime like this, it's all down to the Religion and Culture of the country, and not the simple fact they are a screwed up insane little man.

Most Western countries have worked towards seperating religion from law. In the U.S. marriage has nothing at all to do with religion. Ireland is heading that way too. Marriage is more a tax benefit than anything in this country.

In most Muslim countries peoples lives are dictated by their religion, which is their culture, which is often their laws.

Nobody's suggesting Christianity wasn't the same. It probably is in some countries in South america and Africa. Religion just has much less of a hold in more developed countries.

There are many things that we would see as insane, but some cultures would see as just. honour killings spring to mind here.

I'm not disputing that many countries in the Middle-East are dictated by Religion based Laws.

I'm simply pointing out that this murder had nothing at all to do with Religion. None what so freaking ever.

Except that they would not be entitled to an Irish passport based on their birth in Siberia. The same cannot be said for somebody who was born in Down, or Cork for that matter (at least prior to 2005, in a change which affected Down as much as Cork). No one here is proclaiming all muslims to be nut jobs and the fact that you seem to be hyper sensitive to that says maybe race or religion is more in the forefront of your mind than anyone elses?
All thats being said here is that based on the fact that the reason for the murder was the denial of marrige by a woman to a man brought up in a society where women are of less social standing than men seems to indiate that the culture itself may have influenced the killers opinion of his victims in some way making the decision to kill slightly easier for him...

A contributing factor MAYBE but no one is saying that the reason was entirely is relgion?

What culture? The legal age for marriage in Turkey is 18 or 17 with parental consent. He could not have married a 15 year old girl, it is not part of their culture.

A few years ago some Irish bloke died in Turkey, the front page of one of the papers had "Irish man found dead in turkey" my mate came into work and after looking at the front page in disbelief she shouted "Oh my god i didnt think they would eat a human" funniest thing i have ever heard.

I'm in turkey at the minute staying very close to where the women had their house. It's no more dangerous here than anywhere in Ireland cos god knows if something was gonna happen anyone it would have been menib Tuesday night. State I was in!

What goes through my mind aswell is what the 2 women were going through while they were being murdered. They died in fear and pain and maybe even witnessed one of the other women getting killed.

No I have not forgot Tara but telling people to stay away is just a little mind working overtime.

Oh I've been ripped off in Ireland many a time but I never had my life threatened in front of my young daughter. When something like this happens it clouds your view of a country

OK you are right but if that happened to me in Ireland or Turkey they would get the same back remember there are 80 million people over there and they put up with no sh1t this boy/man is in for a hard time because of what he did and rightly so I have a friend over there that was up over a traffic offense and got 6 months 2 of which were in a normal prison he told me it was hell the cell was 35 by 35 foot and there were 85 men in it now that's the way it should be over here they can play snooker again are we right or wrong.
