I know what you mean OP. I did see the picture of Louis Walsh on the front of the Irishtimes website yesterday afternoon, and have to admit I was a little disappointed when I found out that it was a digitally altered image.

You know, there is something funny about those pictures.

I think that by putting fake make-up like that on as if you had been battered, it cheapens the whole effect of viewing scars of people actually being battered. Our eyes move over the scars.

And another thing: No bully is going to get away with putting marks on someone like that for very long, and those bullies would be extremely rare. Bullying is almost all of the time psychological, sometimes violent, but not like that. This whole campaign is just a joke.

I don't think people find the picture funny due to jealousy, I think it's because most people of adult sensibilities find Jedward annoying as hell, and the though of them getting a few slaps evokes a schadenfreudian response.
