Antiques Fair,
Trim Castle Hotel, Trim, Co.Meath
(run by Antiques Fairs Ireland)
On:
Sunday 21st August, 2011
From:
12 Noon to 6.00pm
Trim celebrates Heritage Sunday on the 21st, so there will be lots of activities and events taking place in and around the walled town of Trim on the day - most are completely free to the public, with live music and lots of child friendly activities, so you can bring the whole family. In addition there will be a talk on furniture restoration at 4pm at the fair, hosted by John Kenny of Breffni Ireland, cabinet maker and restoration specialist.
Trim Castle Hotel is located opposite Trim’s historic Norman castle (free guided tours this Sunday, open 10am-6pm Sun, booking advised). The hotel serves a superb and very good value carvery lunch. There is also an a la carte restaurant for fine dining, and self-service coffee shop/restaurant for light snacks, great for afternoon tea. The exhibition room is on the first floor, with wonderful balcony views of the castle and the old church. The town of Trim and the surrounding area is just full of historic monuments and ruins, and if the weather is fine, there is a beautiful river walk which meanders through pretty meadows and with wonderful views at every turn. Again, free guided walks of Trim and its historic monuments will be available on Sunday, as part of the Heritage Day festivities.
