Stupidusername....I think the 3rd photo down and the little guy with the Mandarin in the 4th photo is a Wood Duck..Love the gick-na's...:D

Have one knockin about in our garden with an adult these past few days. Sadly, I think its one of 5 fledglings !

That juvenile coot is a bit more advanced than the one I saw in Farmleigh this week which still has some red left showing on its crown. And the stubbiest of stubby wings, which I only spotted on video.

My sun-bathing blackbird was joined by a robin at one stage the other day.

Found this prince in waiting in my greenhouse during the week:D. Not too sure how he got in as my garden is surrounded by walls.

its a tough one alright.

the only sure fire way to tell the difference is the song i think.

completely different. check out the rspb website you'll see how different they are.

i have what i think is a pair of willow warblers nesting outside. they dont make the usual song though, instead its a slow quiet "chiiirp" similar to something a bullfinch or chaffinch makes.

Pretty sure the both of them are willow warbler, chiffchaff have dark grey almost black legs.

Been a while since iv'e got a shot of these elusive little fellows , used to have 3 pairs nesting on a 5/6 mile stretch of the Barrow where i live , but only 1 this year as far as i can make out.
Two young have fledged from the first brood and i'm sure their on to the second one by now ,the nest is fairly hard to get near so i'm not sure on that. Seem to be an awful lot of rats around this year ( anyone else notice that) , so i would worry for the eggs but hopefully they will be ok.

Lesser Redpolls are the Widespread species in Ireland , with a small number of Autumn and Winter Vagrants ( Arctic and Mealy Redpolls).
