anyone else out at the southcourt this evening giving blood? just back from there myself, the blood bank were looking for donations from 5 o clock to 8 o clock, i only managed to get out there at 20 to 8, the room was JAM PACKED, so i'd my young lad with me anyway and we sat down to wait my turn. next thing over my shoulder i hear one girl mutter to another how she'd been sitting there since SIX o clock! :eek:

i asked one of the nurses passing anyway how long were the delays (so's i'd have some idea how long i'd be waiting) - two and a half hours i was told! i just think it was bad form of the IBTS that they turn up for three hours and then dont have nearly enough nurses to cover the amount of people there. they're screaming for blood supplies, and when people turn up, the average waiting time is three hours? that would have meant i would have had to wait there til 11 o clock tonight.

now mind i could have waited, listened to my mp3 player, got a bit of work done on the netbook, etc, but i had to reluctantly leave because i couldnt have expected my six year old to wait that long, and especially with school the next morning.

i suppose im a bit disappointed really, but in fairness, the nurse was lovely, brought the young lad over to the table for a glass of orange and a packet of crisps before we left.

i hope lessons are learned for the next time they're down in limerick, the nurse told me on the 21st of june, and maybe i'll get out there earlier too next time myself!
