yes but even a well organised, well advertised protest would not receive the support it would warrant in this country due to the sheepish nature of our society. in other european countries if one decided to spontaneously start a protest they would have a considerable chance of being joined by their fellow countrymen but here they would be sneered at and probably be called muppets, shinners etc. i am not really interested in defending the facebookers though, your opinion just irks me somewhat .

raising the minimum wage back to 8.65 and then possibly removing time and a half on sundays from the lowest paid workers...kudos again coalition dudes

We don't need a revolution - evolution will come about.

It may take some time but I can assure you that there are good people in Fine Gael, even though they may not hold a notable position in the ranks quite yet. It's only a matter of time before the Enda Kenny's and Michael Noonans of this world step aside - the only question is, at that point, will there be too much damage done to the credibility of the party.

We have this policy in Ireland whereby every member is expected to agree with the figureheads running the show or get thrown out. In the U.S, for example, the Republican party has a host of different personalities and ideologies. The same is true within Fine Gael, except you're expected to keep your head down. In fact, Fine Gael are notable for being the party most susceptible to infiltration - there are a lot of anti-Statists in there.

So again, look forward to the future. For all the talk about the Irish, I believe we are far more intelligent than we give ourselves credit for. Along with some other recognisable nations, perhaps we're the most future looking. So, instead of wasting time marching up and down the streets in Guy Fawkes masks, get active within Fine Gael. You'll be surprised who you may come across.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. We don't need liberating in the way that Libya or Egypt do, but that doesn't mean that our version of democracy is perfect. It's not. If people paid the slightest bit of attention, or kicked up any kind of fuss, it wouldn't be so easy for them.
