Why do people insist on seeing conspiracy/contraversy in everything?

I ask this after reading and posting in threads about Madeleine McCann's disappearence and the death of Osama Bin Laden.

It is obvious that there are some people who will point blank refuse to accept anything offical sources tell them and I'm wondering why?

Why is so hard to believe Bin Laden was killed by American Special Forces, that Madeleine was abducted etc?

Why does everything have to be shrouded in conspiracy and contraversy?

I cracked your rather mediocre code in minutes, I am sure everyone else has too.
Here is how I did it.

First sentence has exactly 10 words = 10
There are exactly 5 lines, including the title = 5
There are exactly 4 lines - excluding the title =4
First line has 20 words, followed by 3 lines = 23
Username is 1 word - Coincidence? I think not! = 1
Posted TODAY, obviously implying 2xtodays date = 2x9 = 18
Posted at 16.39, 16 meaning 4 = 4

Taking these numbers and applying them to the alphabet we get JEDWARD.

Look I really am not out to start an argument or get people, genuinely I am not.

I don't think there are many who don't believe anything they are told, I think some people have doubts[or are absolutely convinced] about specific theories.
I don't think I am 100% certainly convinced on any conspiracy theory, but I definitely have a good few doubts and things I would like explained about a few things that are meant to be the "official story" about what happened on a few events in the world.
I didn't post in the Madeline thread, but there are many things I have read about that case, that do not make any sense whatsoever to me, and leave me with alot of questions that I would like to hear answered by the McCann parents and their group, that they just completely refuse to answer.
I don't know what happened to Madeline for sure, so I'm not going to get too much into that, I wish and hope that she would be found alive and well, but because of alot of the things I read that raised doubts in me, I unfortunately don't think that it's likely to happen.
I can't say that the parents are definitely guilty of a crime [other than being idiotic parents], but I can really see why some people believe that they may have been involved themselves. There is just so much weird stuff about that case.
I occasionally read the conspiracy forum here, and while some seem too out there for me, there is actually some very interesting reading there too.
I have also looked up about certain things myself, but I don't post in the conspiracy forum because I don't really know enough information about the topics, whereas the people there seem to have bucketloads of links and quotes and videos etc.
I guess you could say I have a medium interest in conspiracies, higher for some, and almost nil for some other theories.
As I said I'm not 100% on any theory, but I really do think that a few conspiracy theories are certainly very plausible.
I try to find out about both sides of the story, the conspiracy and the official one, and see which makes most sense to me, sometimes though both sides have equally as good of arguments and evidence so it can be very hard to decide!
I think it's good to keep your mind open to the possibilities though.:)

But why do people believe conspiracy theories that someone comes up with on the internet, then quote them as though they were the truth? Whats the difference between a conspiracy theory from someone you've never met, and a story from an official source, or someone involved in the matter in question?

Healthy scepticism is great, an enquiring mind likewise, but why do people have the need for conspiracies, are there more paranoid people in the world than we know about? (and why haven't we been told about this?)

As one gets older one learns that your parents lie to you, your teachers lie to you, your clergy lie to you ~ but somehow you believe what your government says?

But then you begin to wonder why are they different? Then you decide they aren't.

If you study history you'll find that governments use lies to get the populace to accept what they otherwise might not.

The McCann case has some 'evidence' which is not admissible in an English Court to suggest that a cadaver had been in their room.

whats wrong with asking questions. the uk government was an "official" source in the north, but it didnt stop them collaborating with loyalist paramilitaries.

the american government have fed their people lie after lie. didnt they say they would leave after osama was dead? there you go....another lie. argueably the most corrupt government in the developed world. so many lies you dont know what to believe with them, so they only have theirselves to blame for all the conspiracys. people who take them at their world are very naive and gullible in my opinion

Systemic beating of suspects was proven at the ECHR as was a shoot to kill policy in the early 80's.

People don't have to go as far as America to show how swallowing the official line isn't a good thing.

There's a significant difference between questioning things (which, yes, I believe we should do) and deciding the answer is an elaborate conspiracy theory based on flimsy evidence... cus you want to believe it as the drama is so exciting.

Saying "Things don't add up" re Bin Laden is reasonable, and warranted IMO, questioning; "Bin Laden was definitely bumped off five years ago and this is a PR stunt for Obama" is just silliness.

What gets me is that these guys will constantly berate people for listening to mainstream media and established news channels, yet their claims are based on very spurous witnesses wth no track record, or some sort of misquote or slip of the tongue from someone in a position of power.

How are they so sure that theyre not being fed bull**** from some vested interests themselves? I dont think Jim Corr has ever carried out some cutting investigative journalism or operated in any high level organisation (The Corrs dont count)

To repeat again I have no issue whatsoever with people questioning things and not blindly believing what they're told. It is human nature to be curious and the situation can sometimes warrent rigorous questioning.

However it is another thing altogether to read in the paper ' Osama Bin Laden is dead' and immediatly assume it's lie or decide that actually he died years ago etc etc without real evidence.

I also don't understand why even when reasonable explanations are given for seemingly suspicous events eg the idea that burying Bin Laden at sea was to avoid his body being dug up and used as a shrine, people still refuse to listen or be open to the possibilty they are wrong.

I am always open to the chance that some CTs are correct myself.

The people who believe that it was an inside job make up only a tiny percentage of those who believe questions about 9/11 in general remain unanswered. Not all 'conspiracy theories' need to be vastly orchestrated plots.. they can be as straight forward as 2 people making the decision to keep some facts hidden.
