Here’s the idea: a gig played by Boards bands, for the rest of us Boardsies, with proceeds going directly to the Japanese Red Cross to help the victims of the earthquake/tsunami disaster.
So, just to make sure it was all feasible, I got some ducks in a row, made some calls, sent out some emails and here’s the story so far.
The Mercantile Live Music Venue (Dame Street) is booked for the 23rd April, the Saturday of a bank holiday weekend. Frobisher, the category mod of Music, has agreed to perform, as have Fitz’s band Susie Soho. Dav has agreed to provide his dulcet tones, not with his band unfortunately, but in MC capacity, which we’ll just have to make do with

The rest of the lineup is empty, ready and willing to be filled. If your band wants to play, post here with a link to your music. A small limited run of CDs will be also be produced to sell on the night. It’ll include tracks from the bands that are playing, plus some others, so if you can’t play the gig but would like to donate a track to this, then post here with a link to your music. Tracks must be ready by the 12th April to make it onto the CD.
Bands/tracks will be chosen by me, Beruthiel and Dav and our decisions are final (no pms of begging/complaints, please). If you’re an active contributor to Boards, then you will be given precedence, but the main concern here is quality. The CD is for charity – and the only way we sell the full run of CDs is if the CD is worth buying and the music on it is good. Same goes for the bands chosen to play on the night.
If you’re not in a band, but would like to help in other ways, then please do – e.g. graphic designers/artists: we’ll be needing some nice sigs and banners to pimp the gig all over Boards, posters for the venue, artwork for the CDs, etc.
