If you're going to be commuting you'll need at least 2 pairs of gloves, unless you go fully faired, since leather doesn't like being force dried. Nothing worst then putting on damp gloves on a cold winter morning.

Well I presume the helmets at the bottom of the stack will be fine. I wouldn't buy any of the open boxes.

It's your head, but the Lidl staff have no training on helmet handling and you don't know how many times they've moved the boxes or how they treat them.

You can pick up helmets for ~€100 in nearly all bikes shops. If your around Dublin Cotters have good value and you can haggle with him.

Also you need to get your head measured to get the correct fit since no mater what lid you get if it doesn't fit correctly it's useless

You'll probably need two pairs (unless you've heated grips, then you might get away with just one pair). I have a few different pairs for different purposes - the winter ones are nicely and warm, but I don't like them because I feel clumsier on the throttle when wearing them. Summer ones are vented and lighter.

I like protectors on the knuckles at least, then there's loads of extra features available. I don't think there's as much consensus on how important armour is in a glove - you'll see things on some of the higher end gloves like scaphoid protectors, links between the little finger and next one (little finger is easily bent across and broken I guess?). Depends on what you want I suppose.

I wouldn't buy a helmet in Lidl or Aldi. Makes no sense - for a slightly higher price you can pick up something that's 5 star Sharp rated as well as ECE approved, and the helmets I looked at in Lidl just seemed awfully low quality. They're obviously to ECE standard, but they seemed incredibly uncomfortable to wear, and the lining / shield quality, all just not great. I just don't see them being comfortable to wear, or lasting all that long.

Whatever about the quality of their helmets, there's no way in hell I'd buy one now. They've been on display for several weeks with everyone picking them up and throwing them back.

Get good quality waterproof boots and don't bother with over boots.

Anything is better than nothing. You should get as good as what you can afford I guess.

I have bought loads of the B square motorcycle gear when they used to sell it, have a tank bag, waterproofs, kidney belts, gloves and a helmet, and found them all to be great, it's only in the last year or so that they seem to have changed supplier/brand and the stuff is very shoddy IMO . I think it's called crivit sports or something like that.

Have to say i don't buy into all that helmet snobbery myself, but that argument has been done to death on here, each to their own i say

Lucky bag time of the year again. I bought a tank bag for my bike last year and the zip bust a few weeks later, couldn't. Be bothered returning it so I bin'd it. I wouldn't trust their lids if they were to save me from falling out of bed,

I am bl**dy disgusted that lidl seem to be palming off old, damaged stock to their customers, especially something as important as motorcycle helmets.
BTW one of the boxes was written on on the inside of the lid, €24.99 and a 5 digit number beside it- An old return possibly seeing as they are selling for €34.99 now?

I was notified by “Motorcycle News” some weeks ago to the upcoming sale of Motorcycle Clothing/Accessories
in the UK and was looking forward to the same equipment in your Irish stores only to find a reduced
choice of products, and if I didn’t know better I’d say the remnants of the “left over’s “ from your UK stores.

I use a rucksack also,but only on commute to work(10k each way).Got the tank bag for days away with my good lady,rucksack wouldnt be an option,well,not on me anyways:D

I'd planned to get the larger tank bag but ended up taking the smaller 7-litre one; seems like less value for money (€19.99 vs €27.99 for the 32-litre) but it's far better made and to be honest I'd rather carry bulky items behind me in a rucksack (which I already have) than atop the tank.

The leathers looked crap but the flips looked decent enough for the price

If you look on eBay you can get a laptop/camera rucksack by Crumpler. A guy in Cork sells them for around €70. A bargain and a great bit of kit.

Havn't seen the lidl one yet but usually the magnets on a tank bag are inside fabric pockets, so the magnet itself wont scratch the tank, however what can cause scratches is little bits of dirt caught between the magnets and the tank

I wonder what the leather jackets and pants will be like? The textile jackets were'nt great last year. I got the mini tankbag last year and it was very handy until I got a bike with a plastic tank...
