anyone getting married in or been to a wedding recently in Leixlip manor and gardens.....used to be liffey valley house hotel. really liked it when we had a look around but would love first hand advice/info....thanx

Was at a wedding there about 2 years ago, it was lovely. They actually had the ceremony there too and it was all very relaxed. The rooms in the converted courtyard were nice and the food was very good. Hope that helps!

Was at a wedding there last year. It was lovely and intimate. The wedding was there, and then afterwards everyone went to the bar (except the couple who had their photos taken in the garden) while they changed the layout.

The food and service was really good and the bedrooms looked nice (didn't stay there).

The bride and groom were delighted with the place

A very intimate setting considering its proximity to Dublin City. Much better than its sister venue, the Leixlip House. (which is still a great venue) Its great in both Winter and Summer. The plus points are obviously that you will have it to yourselves, food is fab, grounds are ideal for photos and its a very well run place. The only drawback is it can't cater for big big numbers. But if you have considered it then it obviously suits the numbers you have in mind.

Have heard the room is a bit small for afters, like they remove all the tables and line the chairs up against walls...bit like a 'hop' as my mother calls it. seems most of the guests will end up in bar(just off main room) and not dance!! anyone any thoughts?

Many venues have bars off the main room where ther entertainment is situated.
I can't comment on this venue but it does make the band or dj job more difficult
as a result. You could say if people want to dance they will, but the borderline
cases can be lost at these gigs due to no fault of the entertainer. That said, it
does often depend on the crowd and the bridal party making an effort to be on
the floor as much as possible is good encouragement too.

When I was there the room for the reception was kind of two rooms with a very wide doorway in between (it didn't really feel like two rooms). After the meal one half became the dance floor, the other had the usual tables and chairs set-up. The bar was in a separate room to the side but I don't remember it being an issue, dance floor was pretty full all night....I guess some of it would depend on the DJ and as previously stated the bride & groom being up dancing / encouraging people.
