As stated above...

I rang my local PPO supplier this morning to arrange some tank filling with PPO and I got the bad news (I didn't know that before).
The Greens signed the new Scheme, which is going to put our local farmers out of business. Source:

Basically, the Obligation Scheme puts the price of PPO fuel over the price of Diesel fuel after we add all the taxes, charges, fees, levies... :mad: ! It is unbelievable. For the sake of a few bob the Government favours supporting foreign oil companies while putting local producers out of business at the same time. Never mind supporting the Environment.

That news made my day really

To cut the story short, it simply means that the PPO is now over €1.50 per litre after the new levies, taxes and fees are pumped into the price of the Bio-Fuel, which makes no sense at all for anyone to buy it as motor fuel. It is not the end of the story. If no one is going to buy if from now on, the local producers and all their employees will be soon signing on the Dole. And the Government will have to borrow more money to pay the unemployed people their benefits instead of supporting local businesses.
By doing this, the Government also "promotes" usage of fossil fuels.

It sickens me when they have the gall to call themselves a "Green" party when in their tenure we have more filthy (non BioDiesel/PPO) diesels on the road than ever before thanks to illogical CO2 Taxation and lower costs on the dirtier fuel (PPO at 1.50 yet DERV at 1.39?).

BTW, Seweryn was the only person I have ever met that was actually legitimately using Veg Oil in his cars, fully taxed as such. This is how Ireland rewards those that try to think outside the box while staying lawful.

I'm well aware of that and have been for many years.

I can see this country worst the eastern block Europe in three to five years, seriously.

The problem for a PPO user is not as dramatic. Well, I can move on and just go back to the regular Diesel, but the farmer is the person I am sorry about.
He has been investing in the business for years, going abroad and doing all sort of courses and trainings, sourcing the equipment, putting his passion into it, etc. And now his green, locally grown and refined oil has been taxed out of the economy. And by who... By The Greens... I have to say, I have no words for these useless gobesh!tes...

The changes in road tax and vrt based on co2 emissions was the most short sighted act of bolloxology ever. It was a double whammy when finance started to dry up at the same time, putting me and a lot of others out of a job.
It resulted in a new scrappage scheme where perfectly good cars are still being crushed - how green is that???

The major basic problem is our politicians trying to copy other people's homework (i.e. UK legislation) and making a hash of it.

Its basically the same, PPO does have Carbon tax on it, so its very very marginally less taxed. Its still taxed as a "Mineral Oil" however.

AS the PPO is now being subjected to a Mineral Oil Tax, when it is not actually a mineral oil, could a group of producers not combine together to challenge this in the courts? Rather than face being put out of business?

What they did to kill E85 fuels was make a stroing case that Greencore was making a huge loss making sugar from sugar beet.
The large oil companies knew that vast amoiunts of sugar could allow Ireland to quickly ramp up bio fuel E85 ethanol fuels to replace oil if the price went ballistic which it is now doing

So when greencore got closed down they ensured the sugar factory equipment was shipped out of Ireland

last year it was exposed that Green core actualy was not making a big loss and in fact was making a good profit

Toooo late the sugar beet farmers are gone the factories are gone and the abilty to make large amounts of E85 fuel at low prices is mostly gone

Now we know FF got thier kick backs to ensure the Green core was wiped off the planet

The Greens are also in the palms of the oil companies if the truth was realy known as they premote the non use of coal fuels
Why because coal fuels make thoruim a metal that can be used to make pallet sized back yard safe small nuclear plants
Thoruim metal doesnt create eneough heat to make nuclear melt down and accidents but makes lots of heat to make lots of power for years

The real story is big oil knows that coal fuels tailing or ash (the rubbish of coal ) makes massive more power again after it burnt the coal fuel
It makes so much power oil companies have to say coal fuel makes the most CO2 and should be banned

Oil companies spent billions in the 1920 era to say alchol should be banned as drink in the USA..That ban on drink the speak easy times in the USA meant that cars run on alcohol fuels also had to change to run on gasoline

The oil companies knew that if they got the prohabition on alcohol as drink they would force all cars onto gaoline
The oil companies made gazzilions after that and made their money back from changing the USA drinking laws
