Saturday July 11 2009 FORMER Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is still sorting out his tax affairs with the Revenue Commissioners more than two years after he said the dealings were nearly finished. Mr Ahern also said 18 months ago that Revenue did not have to wait until the report from the Mahon Tribunal to conclude whether he had a tax liability. Mr Ahern may be investigated by the State ethics watchdog if he is found to not have been tax compliant. Following tribunal revelations, a complaint was made to the Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO) about Mr Ahern's tax clearance certificate issued in 2002. SIPO wrote to Mr Ahern informing him of the complaint. But it told him that if the Revenue decided he was not in compliance with his obligations, it may decide to consider the matter again at that stage.
