Intercalated Biomedical Sciences course?

TCD offer this biomedical sciences masters course for third year med students, who at the time of registration, would qualify for a B.A.

I was wondering if you go into medicine and do this course, would you have to finish the 4th and 5th year of the medicine course? Or would you be able to leave the course and still get the B.A. and the M.Sc degrees and pursue further studies?

It does state that it would be conferred when you get the MB Bch BAO, at the end of the medicine course. There may be exceptions, you'd have to email them, they'll get back to you quickly.

Theoretically there would be nothing to stop you leaving the medicine course at whatever point you like and cashing in your credits.

Note that the degree you become entitled to after three years is only an ordinary BA, not the honours moderatorship (BA Mod) which science graduates receive. Instead of doing the MSc, you also have the option of taking an intercalated BA Mod in a science subject - you join the appropriate SS course for one year. The School of Medicine have been soft-pedalling this option for the last couple of years since they started offering the MSc, but the option is still there and perhaps has a broader choice of subjects to choose from than the MSc.
