Red Light District

Who has been to the red light district in Amsterdam?
7 of us went a few weeks ago.
Is it me or do some of the "women" look way too young to be even there at all?
I am talking about the minority here - mainly it was down the side streets, realy seedy and they did look very young - as in under 18. And they looked realy miserable compared to the "hey you, come here" girls on the main streets.
Just wondering if anyone else who has been there thought the same?
And no, we were just walking through, not looking for anything else, 3 women, 4 men, just over for a weekend (smoking ban is a f**k up though:mad:}

I lived in Amsterdam for a few years on the Marnixstraat, and so we used go drinking around the districts. If I remember rightly, there are two smaller ones removed from the main. Some of the women are young alright, but I never did notice them being too young - the police have a heavy presence around these areas, and a fairly protective one at that. I didn't get the impression that they'd take too kindly to that sort of thing, given that it is as much tourist attraction and riding spot.

Still, if you're not talking about right in the main block you might well be right.

Last time I was there the Tobacco smoking ban had just been introduced. The main vibe I got from the coffee shops was that you shouldn't smoke tobacco in your joints. Suits me anyway if you are gonna have a smoke in Amsterdam why spoil it by putting tobacco in it ?

Anyway back on thread, the cops have a very heavy presence in the RLD and with all the regulation that is in place for the district I wouldnt think the girls would be underage.

What I was saying was no, I hadn't seen it in the booths or whatever they're called. Hence the no. (Too Long, Didn't Read meaning a quick answer, in case the acronym is the problem).
If it's street walking, then I would imagine it's the same as anywhere else as there is no regulation... but, no. I had never seen that.

Again, I was only observing. Maybe the girls were of age. To me and some of the people I was with (both male and female) they looked very young.

In fairness the Dutch smoking ban is the worlds most-relaxed smoking ban.

I was there a few months ago and when smoking a post-joint cigarette in one of the Bulldogs (one of the three close to each other down by the durrrty canals) I was asked by the staff to open a window and blow the cigarette smoke in that direction.

They are chilled people.

I remember the 1st time I went to Amsterdam. I wanted to try some Cannabis as I never had any before. I didn't smoke, so I had some brownies.

I was thinking, this isn't all it seems. I went back to the hotel with my girlfriend (who never had cannabis before) but I went for a walk while she went to sleep, to take in the surrounding area. Bad idea. The cannabis started to kick in after 20 minutes. I was wondering what the hell was happening, I got lost for around what must have been 2 hours until I met a dutch fellow and he pointed me back to the hotel.

OMG, it was fu**ing unreal. I didn't have a clue what it was like to be stoned, in between my 2 eyes started to get really heavy. I was okay in the end though. Hopped into bed with my girl at 11 0 clock.
