black bags on country roads

just home after taking one of the back roads around my town and theres another couple of black bags dumped in the ditch and the rubbish from inside is all over the road. this road seems to be a favourite for whatever tramps do this. :mad:

12 euro to get rid of one bag in the dump. One bag in the ditch =Free.
I cringe when I hear people on holiday here noticing dumped rubbish. the people who do this hanus act should be made to eat the rubbish they dump!

i know someone who works in the local council slasher and they have been looking through the rubbish to try and id the people involved so now these beauts are taking the time to take all incriminating stuff with their address out!! the thing is that theres a local dump just down the road but these knobheads are too scanty!

Its a big problem in rural areas, In the old days people used to burn their rubbish in barrels, but thats a rarity nowadays. There are several companies running refuse collections even in my part of the world so there is no excuse.

Greenstar even do a top-up card (like putting credit on your mobile phone) means you only pay for each bin lift rather than a monthly rate. Works for me! The amount of money people are saving by dumping on the road really is a pittance compared to the fines they face when they are caught, not to mention the shame.....

Its not just here. I clearly remember playing a car game on the Panasonic 3DO and the track in LA had black bags all over the side of the roads. If you crashed into them they spilled rubbish out and everything!!

Don't do this.
Call the Litter Warden and let them do it, the rubbish will be disposed of properly and they'll be able to bring a prosecution if they find any details. If you return it to the address it will probably just end up in a different ditch, or you could have a hard time trying to explain why you were caught dumping it on the accused's property.

Its €17 in Kerry when it used to be €6 back in 2003. I honestly don't blame people in this day and age, Rubbish collection is too expensive and hoarding the rubbish for say a monthly or every 6 weeks trip to the dump is impossible with smells and for people with no storage.

It is ridicolously expensive to go to the dump yourself. My house is too far off the main road to bother with a wheelie bin but we manage to recycle most of it. We might have about 1 black bag per week but one of the aul lads mates has a skip for his business so he just lets us fire it in there.

They actually have planes flying around now doing random checks to see whether anyone is burning illegally so thats a big no no

There is a cunning way around this, sometimes they leave there shopping receipts in the bags and the council can track them them using the Loyalty card details by requesting the name and address from the retailer.

I'm not condoning it, but personally speaking I recycle a lot and have about one bagful of actual rubbish every month.

I have to pay €300 a year (the minimum charge available for a collection that would be every 2 weeks) and so that translates to €25 per bag.

The licensing system for waste companies is a joke!

Wrong again, people simply should not be expected to pay extra for what is a health and sanitation issue, most countries around the world have free waste collection and facilities paid for out of general taxation, property tax or council rates. They do this because they know if you are going to charge extra for rubbish people won't pay and dump illegally instead, when they are paying out of tax instead even the biggest "scumbag" as you put it will happily dispose of his waste properly even though he is paying for it.

This whole country is run like Ryanair, pay for every single facet, except with the difference is we pay high taxation.

The €17 in Kerry is for a carload of rubbish to the Dump, there is no charge for a bag and €17 is the minimum charge. This is with Kerry County Council's facilities anyway. Recycling is however free and a large range of recycling facilities is available, when about 10 years ago Glass was about the only recyclable offered.
