(another) Accommodation thread

I'll be going into college next year and I'd really like to get my own place. So I need to ask, how realistic is it to actually obtain and pay for student accommodation? Most places I've looked at are around the 80 euro per month mark. This adds up to a fair bit of money, and I'd like to hear from current/past stuents how it was for them to support themselves. Is a job necessary?

I don't expect/want my parents to pay for any of it and as far as I can tell they probably won't offer to, considering the amount of dosh needed and the fact that I could just as easily live at home, so I'm on my own here. Is the 80 euro pricetag per flat, or per person? If it's per flat I could probably handle it as it would even out at about 30 quid (with two room-mates), but this is probably wishful thinking on my part.

Firstly I highly doubt it's 80 per month, nearly sure it'd be e80 per week (which isn't far off what I'm playing). Again I doubt it's just e80 for the whole apartment or whatever, you'll more than likely be sharing with 1-3 other people.

Oh yeah sorry, I meant 80 per week. I knew I'd be sharing with other people too, I was just wondering is it usually 80 for each person, or between them?

If you're not asking your parents for money, and you don't have money saved up, then yes, you'll need a job to pay for accommodation.
