I have to say I find the mounting hysteria over this quite amusing.

Shock, horror, a grown man has a night out and shares a few pints with his pals and maybe ends up a little worse for ware the next day. Honestly can anyone honestly tell me they've never done it?

Don't be so snotty and hyprocritical.

I mean come on, with the country in the state it's in surely there are more important things to worry about than how Brian Cowen chooses to spend his free time.

He is in charge of this country.
He made a decision to bail out the banks late one night two years ago.
I wonder how sober he was then?

He made 2 errors that I noticed which he pretty much instantly corrected. How in the name of God did he come across as drunk? His voice was a bit patchy but he's a sh*te communicator at the best of times.
And just out of curiosity, what would you have done that fateful night 2 years ago?

I, like many people, want this crew out but don't see a viable solution without a serious labour support (I never thought I'd support Labour) from the public as I believe only they will bring a big change.

Are people really so gullable to believe FF when they say that FG caused all this?

I was working yesterday morning. Today FM is on in work. Ray Darcy gets loads of texts and emails about the interview - it goes on from there. It was an hour after he started talking about it that FG and the tweet were even mentioned.

The whole media "witch hunt" would never have happened if Cowen held his hands up straight away when questioned by Ursula Hannigan. He could have said he was tired after the late night and brushed off the hangover thing. That would have been the end of it.

Riiiiiiight.

There's a difference between 'drinking' and drunk but I'm not gonna bother splitting hairs here as much of this is down to speculation (in relation to the decision to bail out the banks).

My point is that there hasn't been a day in the Dáil, that I remember, where Cowen was seemed, or was accused of, being drunk or hungover, or somewhere in between, so why one should start calling other decisions into question as being tainted by inebriation is beyond me.

With regard to FG, I don't doubt others thought or said the same, but both SF and to a lesser extent Labour had stepped back from from the finger pointing as it seemed they saw little good from making a show out of the whole thing, rather best to focus on the bigger issues at hand.
