Has anyone been to or heard feedback from any weddings in this hotel?

They seem to have good packages starting from 29.50pp.

Soneone said to me they hire a catering company for weddings,
could this be true? And if so would you trust them?

nope. I've eaten there regularly: very nice.

Fab decor etc.
Staff are all v friendly and efficient.

Seems strange that they hire a catering co..... They are a big hotel, I imagine they could well handle the wedding catering themselves. Are you sure the person who told you maybe meant they have a different function staff or something???

Llike that'd be fairly standard. Their is the regular staff/kitchen etc and then there is the Functions staff/kitchen/chefs etc.

Who told you?

I've been to two weddings there, both in 2008 and both very different.

Both served turkey and ham as main course and the first one (in July 2008) was fabulous, big proper cuts of turkey and ham... but the wedding in September the ham served was thin like deli ham.

The bar is outside the room, so people kept having to leave the room to get drinks. Also the room seemed very clinical, not like a wedding venue, more like a conference room, even done up as both weddings.

Perhaps a temporary bar could be set up in the room so as to prevent the above.

I have eaten in the bar and found the food very good. I think it is a very stylish hotel.

In contrast to the above poster, I have eaten in the bar and had what was possibly the worst meal I have ever had. I've heard good things about their restaurant though and it is a nice hotel.

Bride at the first wedding was my aunt and she asked about temp bar in room and was told it was not possible. Second wedding was a teetotal wedding so not as much of a problem.

We were going to have our wedding here but we decided against as we were afraid that the bar would close early. Dublin hotel bars are notorious for strict closing. In the end we went with Cabra Castle in Kingscourt and were very happy with our choice. Some of our friends drank till dawn !

Was at a wedding and found that when you left the function room to get a drink , it was easier to stay outside and have a yap and perhaps a smoke. The doors are extremely large and prohibit easy re-entry with 3 or more drinks (a typical round) and don't mention "get a tray" because there are a rare beast in the Plaza . BTW the Budweizer (on draft) was undrinkable ! and I'll drink most largers ! !
