Where were you on September 11th 2001?

I was only 10 at the time, so I'd just come home from school. I didn't really realise the full implications of what had happened at that time, but I remember standing in the living room with my parents and brother, and everyone just staring at the television when the second plane crashed, and my dad just going, "Jesus f*cking Christ". It's kinda strange seeing footage of it now, it's kinda like I'm recalling a dream rather than an actual memory when I think of it.

I was at work, I remember the internet going t1ts up.

In work, eating a hot chicken roll for lunch from the local deli.
It was a mental busy day in the sales office that day, and then the phones just went dead at about five to two and virtually nobody rang for the rest of the day. That was a very strange day indeed, even driving home, you could see the look of shock on peoples faces as they queued to get on the M50.

I remember that night I went to the gym, and while on the cross trainer, sky news was basically showing the collapse and the plane hitting the tower on repeat. I just kept thinking to myself "stop f*cking showing it OVER AND OVER again" while the old man on the machine beside me said "looks the worlds gonna end" in such a matter of fact way.

I was in work. Originally i had this image of a small little Cesna hitting the twin towers and bouncing off it. But when we discovered what'd happened we all legged it into the office and got Sky News on the net and watched from there till i went home and didn't move from the telly for the rest of the night.
My cousin was working in a bar close by, but she was away that day. Didn't know it at the time though.

They said the first plane was an accident and similar happened in New York back in the 40's or 50's with a bomber plane.

Saw the second plane go in live.
Sure was no accident!

At work. One of my brothers rang another brother in NYC to see was he OK and we knew more about what had happened than they did.

Was in school in tech graphics class remember teacher coming into us saying hear plane just hit the twin towers. I at the time had no idea of the twin towers in new york jumped up and said real loud ''Plane crashed into Wembley?!!''

Trying to calm my Dad down as he had just been treated like crap by a consultant in Beaumont hospital.

He arrived home, walked in and slammed it door shut, mumbled something to himself about how doctor's were some men, getting paid a fortune and yet couldn't pay a bit of interest to his pain symptoms.

He grabbed the Dogs lead and said he was gonna take him for a walk.

I said: "Dad, some plane or something smashed into a building in New York".

He said: "I couldn't give a fuck if the whole place fell down".

Speaking of Wembley, I was in London doing a stint of gigs with a band in Wembley. I had the day off so went in to Oxford St to browse around the shops. I heard it over the radio in a bookshop and then spent a few hours in a pub watching it on the box.

Looking back. 9/11 is probably one of the most important days in the World because the amount of things that have changed since then has been ridiculous.

I was in work when I heard about it. One of the part-time accountants came into my office and was explaining what was happening. I didn't get to see it on the news till the evening time.

Many things have changed since then, but relatively very few as a direct result of 9/11.

On 11/9/2001 I was at work. We laughed at the initial radio reports of a plane hitting the WTC as we assumed it was a small single person aircraft piloted by an idiot. Once the details of what was happening became clearer no work was carried out for the rest of the day. everyone was surfing the news sites.

On the way home I engaged in some panic buying of petrol. To my suprise there didnt seem to be much sign of anyone else doing likewise. I conciously avoided turning on the TV that night (have a certain distaste for disaster porn) confined myself to radio and the interweb (the Daily Rotten proved to be one of the finest news sources in the days which followed with a suprisingly low quoitent of disaster porn).

Next day an Iraqui guy was at our canteen table feeling the need to apoligise for what had unfolded. Later discovered he had been terrified going into work that morning thinking he was going to be lynched or something

Was in 6th class when the principal, whose son was living in New York at the time, announced it over the intercom and got home by the time the first tower imploded.

I was 8, swimming in the local pool with my class. Teaching assistant was listening to the radio out in the reception, she came in and whispered something to our teacher. We were told there'd been an 'accident' in America, and we all had to stop and say a Hail Mary; I remember it vividly.

I came home and tried to find some kids telly (we mustn't have had sky/cable at the time), every channel was just replaying the same images over and over; we just sat their and watched all night.

Working in a v. nice house doing the steelwork on a staircase...listened to most of it happening on the radio with Colin Murray and Edith Bowman from about 2pm onwards...there was no TV in the house (still under construction) so me and the other guy with me had to picture it in our heads...I nearly fell off the ladder when they announced the second plane hitting and then the pentagon strike.
We knocked off early that day...I remember thinking on the way home that we'd probably see a nuclear strike as the outcome of this. Went home then and watched it on the TV till about 1 in the morning< I think I just got in the door as the 2nd tower fell...

I was attending a public recitation of a book, "My Pet Goat", some inconsiderate chap in a suit came in and interrupted the narrator but after a few minutes to compose himself he managed to get back on track and finish the piece for us. Thats professionalism for you!
