MW2 Mini League Interest?

Basically I would like to get a some form of competition running here on boards. Grand I have played a good bit with a few of ye, but this could be fun.

Each match will be 4v4.
Round one, game type and map picked by team A from a set list,
Round two, game type and map picked by team B from a set list,
Tie Breaker, TDM on predetermined map with no perks and no kill streaks.

Rules:
No launchers (bar stingers and javs),
no commando bull****

Would there be any interest?
Any maps and game modes suitable in mind?

There was one of these organised back around March/April, and it died away after a few rounds. That was a 3v3 over three matches also. It was quite hard to get 6 people together at a set time, so getting 8 is likely to be harder.

I'd be happy to play, but am not sure how well it'll take off.

Btw, the boards comp group is still in place if you want to have a look.

What way are teams to be done up? Is it a case of draft your own team or will it be a virtual hat type job?

I think it's a good idea but would it be boards only on a team or boards member's friends on a team? We might struggle for numbers on the first and we'd lose some of the closeness and familiarity playing with strangers but we might need numbers.

How would we go about choosing teams would it be fairer to have a draft or nominate captains who pick or just go with your mates?

Don't want to pour cold water on a great idea just some thoughts on it.

well i suppose it wouldnt have to be teams . we could always go for free for alls ? small groups of 4 in maps or something along those lines . that way its not a case of getting stuck on an in experienced team its up to the individual to do good or bad

I'd have to disagree altogether. Free For All is a mode where you need a huge amount of luck. The spawns are ridiculous and the reason i don't play it at all.

You do be on a 4 kill streak when someone you just killed spawns directly behind you and stabs you in the back.

TDM shows a persons skill more than FFA. FFA is a spawn based campfest imo.

id agree with you for the most part . but while your personal skill could be good even through the roof you can still loose in a tdm game . and yes ive had un lucky moments in free for all and it can be very difficult to get used to the spawns. but for the most part the best player will come out on top luck can only take you so far in the game

no DLC maps: to make it easier for the teams.

I'm thinking of giving the teams a week for games to be played. Each team picks the most # of time slots they can play in during the week.
Ex: mon: 6pm to 8pm and mon: 8pm to 10pm would be a time slot each
If the teams can agree on a common time, grand. If not, the team who was most slots available wins by default and we make like travellers and move on... to the next round.

Or would someone have a better system?

Sorry Yim, I forgot to reply to your post.
Basically, you put forward a team captain. That person has to be on boards. He/She takes whoever they want to play on their team, but he/she is in charge of looking after and keeping their team in order. If they are not online when they are meant to, that's their problem. If one member their team do something against the rules, that's their problem.

Making a list of people and doing the schoolyard, I'll pick and then you pick will result in poor results. Not only will you be playing with randomers, you may not know how they play and support you. They may not even show up and you will be one man down.

Pick a team that you know and trust, that will show up when needed. I recommend anyone who is interested in taking part to play some night with the regular group and get to know a few of the guys.

So if there are any teams looking for a 4th player lemme know, 2.13 k/d here, I know it's not a true sign of skill but it at least gives you some idea.

No worries about the maps. They are not needed for this tournie as it would be unfair to pressure people into getting them.

we did an interclan thing that was run very well a month or so ago, ran over about 8 weeks, every monday. Basically we just had everyone sign up, then setup a spreadsheet.

X amount of points for top scorer on winning team
X amount of points for top scorer on losing team
X amount of points for second on winning
X amount of points for second on losing
X amount of points for top fragger
X amount of points for winning

Played a game on each maptype, join auto on connect.

Take a screenshot of each scoreboard at end of game.

And then input the data at the end of the night.

Worked very well and was great craic, doing teams etc will not work, so being an indivual league is the only way imo.
