Thought the sauce was a bit of a disaster at first, but the more it cooked the "more ok" it became. It was nice a creamy but had a massive kick at the back of your throat due to me putting in too much of something (I'm not one for following recipes)

But after adding it to my dinner the kick was gone and all that was left was deliciousness. Great victory.

Food looks very good though!

Cause it's my first one. I'm allowed. I was disappointed when I didn't need to use the processor for my korma sauce at all.

looks delish! are those sort of brown balls some kind of lentil? i'm a bit wary of the old lentils as they always go wrong for me

also think my hand held blender thing is on its last legs

i will be gutted if it carks

Do you wash the lentils under running water before cooking? Same should be done with rice.

well, no i don't think so, usually just sort of soak em. Will try this tho, thanks.

I usually end up using yellow split peas, as they are more predictable, and v high in protein. mmmm veg protein

Store dry beans and dahls in dry, airtight containers at room temperature.
Try and use dahls and lentils within six months -- the older they get, the longer they take to soak and cook because of lost moisture.
Sort dahls, beans and lentils before use - you may find an occasional small stone you'll want to remove before cooking.
Rinse several times before you cook.
Some beans need soaking to aid the cooking process.
Do not add salt or acidic ingredients like tomatoes or lemon juice until the beans or dahls are cooked.
Ayurveda recommends eating beans, dahls and lentils that are well-cooked for easy digestion.
Adding spices such as cumin, black pepper and ginger to dahls and beans helps the process of digestion.

I have this flask recipe somewhere where you cook the food for a few minutes at home in the morning. Put the food into the food flask. Close it, and the food will cook away in the flask. The longer you have the food in the flask, the shorter time for your initial heating.

Lentils don't actually need soaking, though some people do soak them anyway. I find that they're better without soaking. And of course, the fresher they are, the less cooking they'll need.

Btw, lentils will always be utterly tasteless unless you use chopped onions.

I'm actually cleaning out my room, as I know there's no way I'm gonna sleep tonight. I'm trying to find my PIN in case I end up not going into school for my results. The last time I saw it, it was crumpled at the bottom of my school bag. The same school bag I emptied when I finished my exams :rolleyes: I did find my Junior Cert results PIN though! >_>

I never realised just how much junk (books mainly) I used this past year. And refill pads. You'd think I'm a note-taker :rolleyes:
I mitched A LOT during accounting class (my most hated subject) and yet I used 4 large 200 page notebooks plus countless copies and a few full refill pads.
Strangely enough, I barely have anything for Physics (my favourite subject). Just the books they asked us to buy. I never had a copy for it either. I always used random sheets and bits of other subjects' copies, and my famous "random" copy. I swear my teachers hated the various incarnations of "random copy". (It was a copy that I could fill with absolutely anything at all, school related or not, and wouldn't hesitate to use it in class for exercises to be handed up... My teachers probably saw a lot of stuff they didn't want to know.)

I'm actually SOOO hyper!!!! >_<

EDIT: OMG!!!!! I actually found the sheet with the PIN in the "important stuff" folder! That's a first!!! Here I was thinking I must have put it inside some book or something. Omg. So proud of myself!!! I'm not as disorganised as everyone says! ^_^ I think...

I'm ok. Excited, I guess. I know I got enough points (my lowest course is like 300 something, my highest is 400 something, and my first choice was 405 in 2009). The only problem is that some CAO official's head might be chopped off if I don't get the course I want, and that I'll be very very disappointed if I don't get the points I want but don't need. I'm very silly like that.

We were gonna go out and get totally hammered as you do, but my friends and I decided to postpone it till Saturday so we avoid the stupid LCer crowd (yes, I know that's also us >_<) It suits me because I badly need some sleep!!! The only thing is that a lot of other friends are asking me if they can come too, and bring along other friends and friends of friends... So I think we might end up being in a big crowd anyway hehe

If I get the course I want I'll be a happy bunny. My careers teacher said to me "I told you you could do medicine!". So, for the (hopefully) last time ever I had to remind her that you can't do medicine if your only science is Physics >_>

I feel a bit bad for getting an A1 in English, despite having recycled the same Yeats essay through two years of secondary school (I learnt it by accident the first time I wrote it). I could've done the other poets but Yeats was just so easy. And I'm proud of my masterful adaptation of my generic essay into what was asked (they changed the wording a lot this year so as to not do what they did in the past years of basically asking you whether you like the poet). Also very proud of getting a good mark for the first (and last!) Literary Genre essay I've ever written in my life. That was a "shít!!! This isn't meant to come up! I wanted Cultural Context!!!!" moment >_<

Ah well, at least I don't have to set foot in secondary school ever again! Except for next year's awards day I guess.

Oh yeah, the only thing the Leaving Cert taught me was that these are lupins >_>

What's wrong with knowing the name of some flowers? I knew what they looked like but didn't know their name. I said I really liked the poet's use of metaphors such as how she compares the leaves to fingers. Yeah, what the hell was I thinking?

Hey! My Literary Genre essay was 100% new material! Waffling on about how the element of surprise helps narrate the story. My texts were the most boring texts ever with practically no surprises. I had the dreaded Pride and Prejudice. (Mmmmmm Mr Darcy....... *drools*)

I wish my mum liked flowers. Then I'd try to learn stuff from her. I think it might be looked down upon by society, if I kidnap your mum =/
