Far as I can see, even in the midst of all this ranting, abusive language, racism, threats, hitting, etc... she still managed to maintain her composure.

Between the two now released extreme recordings of himself Mel comes CLEARLY across as a person with two sides to him.
The PR image side and the DEEP mentally disturbed, clearly dangerous side to him.

Any parent out there that has listened to both released recordings, could you say with hand on your heart that you would feel safe around him and/or would you trust him now on his own with your child?

I most certainly would not.

...And he likes to call himself a devout religious man? He's a deeply disturbed wanna-be mental case on the loose!

It would be very easy to agree but honestly, all kidding aside, he really needs some good mental health care by the sounds of it.
He clearly has some issues with anger management, women in general and his tendencies of violence towards others.

If this was any other ordinary Joe Soap, the men in white suits would be just 5 minutes away after being called in by the neighbours.

I say the above with respect to his work as a director and being a fan of Mel's great acting abilities.
It obvious that outside of work though, there are deep underlying problems he needs to address and not with a PR stunt equivalent of a "five minute fix".
