According to Cathal Dervan's exclusive the prep run for the Argentina match will see a LOI select 11 managed by Paul Doolin taking on United.

Even if it doesnt go ahead, what do people think would be the best 11 the leauge could put out?

RTE at this while Bohs play an important European game.

The Airtricity Penalty Challenge

The FAI and Airtricity, proud sponsors of the League of Ireland, have joined forces to give four lucky, young footballers the chance to show off their penalty skills during the historic opening game in the Aviva Stadium – the Airtricity Challenge between a representative League of Ireland XI and the mighty Manchester United on Wednesday August 4th.

Each skilful young footballer will compete at half time during the highly-anticipated Airtricity Challenge for the title of the Airtricity Penalty Challenge Champion.

Open to football fans under the age of 15, the Airtricity Penalty Challenge will be run in conjunction with League of Ireland Clubs, with each hosting a club challenge open to young players in their respective areas. Club winners will then progress to regional finals, with the winners of the four regional finals competing in the Grand Final at the Aviva Stadium on August 4th during the clash between the League of Ireland XI and Manchester United.

All 22 League of Ireland Clubs will take part in the Airtricity Penalty Challenge. The 22 club winners will all receive ‘Family Tickets’ courtesy of Airtricity, Ireland’s cheapest energy provider, to see the League of Ireland XI face Manchester United, with the four regional winners getting the chance to show off their penalty skills at the game.

Supporters interested in taking part should contact their local League of Ireland Club. Entrants must be born after August 4th, 1995.

The Cork City Airtricity Penalty Challenge will take place at the club’s summer camp at Bandon FC, which is running from July 19th to 23rd. The winner of the Cork City Airtricity Penalty Challenge will be given a ‘Family Ticket’ courtesy of Airtricity, Ireland’s cheapest energy provider, to see the League of Ireland XI take on Manchester United and will also be entered into the regional finals.

I'm actually going to sit in the Aviva Stadium bar and watch the game on the TV instead of sitting on my 60 euro seat, just so I can watch the game in the environment to which I'm accustomed. Might even bring my own comfy barstool with me for old time's sake.

Can't see a seating plan anywhere, but even if I could I doubt the would tell you. Probably as high as you can go, and in the corner.

Aye, especially considering there's potential European fixtures on that night. Won't be anything close to the strongest in the league.

Have the general tickets sold out yet?

Members and ST holders of the club can get some through the club, but I won't be going anyway.

I'll see the Aviva in November hopefully.

bohs should tell the FAI to **** off and not release they're players we have much more important things to be concentrating on than playing some meaningless friendly.

To be honest, the only reason I'm going to this is because it's the first match in the new stadium, Lansdowne Road!

It's just a pre-season friendly for United, if we come out of it with no injuries I'll consider it a success.

To be honest, I wonder would some players be pissed off if they didn't get the chance to turn out - some of them could be United supporters themselves.

Not that the clubs who pay their wages shouldn't block them of course.
