Names that just don't go

I have a cat called Alan. He is the only Alan on the vet's database of 10,000 animals. He also has a horse called Nigel.

While these are normal names for humans they just don't seem right for animals. Anyone else know of names that just don't work - animals or otherwise? Also, why don't these names work?

A friend of mine called his dog Phyllis just so he could say sit Phyllis. The novelty wore off very quickly!!!!

I knew someone who got a dog with her boyfriend when they were young and named it Spliff for the laugh.

10 years later, with a suburban house and 3 kids, the dogs name is no longer that funny.

They tried changing the name but he doesn't really respond to anything else they tried.

Oh forgot to mention the pigeons that come to feed on my window sill - There's Ignatious (tagged guy), King Pigeon (black and white extra large pigeon that has recently claimed his territory and scares off the other pigeons), Chewing gum Head (normal lookin pigeon but looks like he has white chewing gum stuck to his head), Mangledy Leg (who has one leg that's completely mangled up into a ball), and there was Brown Baby and Negro (two baby pigeons, brown and black) but they've since disappeared. Then I've named two pigeons that I see in the station - Boppeldy Leg (another mangledy leg but the original), and Limpy McLimperson (guy who limps all the time).

I'll have to come up with a name for the pigeon at the park who lets me rub him while he feeds.

Had two goldfish called Batman and Robin. One morning though I noticed that Batman (slightly larger fish than Robin) was missing.

It was a covered tank...Robin went cannibal and ate Batman

It does happen me too now, just yesterday I was in the park feeding them, and they went a bit wild, climbing on my hands and legs and everything. It was great! They're so soft.

I had goldfish called Brian and Margaret, and a budgie called Terminator.

A neighbour had two scottie terriers called Rodney and Derek (Only Fools and Horses).:)

He's a stray I took in a while ago. Going to get him neutered next week.

It is fun! I feed them a wild bird seed mix, or peanuts. Mostly peanuts, because they're longer and you can hold one with two fingers and they'll eat it. But the seed I had was in a little tub, and they just dip their heads into it.

Great fun! you should try it. Of course not all of them will eat from your hand, or land on you, only the brave ones.

One of the women in work has a Burmese cat called Fanny..i swear to god. It was funny the first few times "hows your little Fanny"(kitten), has the hair grown back on Fanny (after she was spayed), "Fanny smells today"(dodgy abscess thing)!

Now its just embarrassing..seriously??!!:o

Cats in the yard are Sophie, Annie, Helena, Oliver, Mathew and Jim. Jim was locked in a car for like 3 weeks. Came out and was grand. He's a Bit of a legend.

Used to have a wire haired Jack Russell terrier, called Hitler. He had a little black spot that looked like a 'tashe.

I was about 7 when I named that dog.

Really wanted to get a bulldog as well, and name him Churchill.

Now have cats named Fred (Other wise known as Superstar Fred) and Trixie (Or What The F**k Do You Want Now?) and a Gecko named Kif.

Really hate when people give animals stupid names like "Fluffy Wuffy DooDah" or "Fido."

You can almost see the animal wince when they're being called.

I used to have a cat called Skittles. She got her name after eating..skittles!
My family had a hugh fight over what to call our dog. my mam wanted to call her Cailín (girl in irish)....wouldnt have been too bad if our neighbours dog wasnt called bhuachalla (boy in irish). i wanted to call her Tori.....so i rigged the vote and I won!! yeah cheating rules!!!

Now sadly both those animals have died

But our 2 fish are named after 2 dead spirits my then 3 year old daughter saw in the graveyard....Jimmy and Chloe....its a long story haha

On a side note, I was looking up the A-team earlier and their H.M Murdoch is spelled Murdock and we've spelled it with a H everywhere. Oops!

Friends of ours have a cat that comes in their house every so often to day hi. The first time he came over I was there and I was wearing a hoody with fur on the inside. The car started kneading it and sucking the fur so he is not called blow job, or beej for short. We found out his real name is Oscar but it doesn't suit him like beej does.

You should feed them lots of un-cooked rice..........they love it.......;)

We got two cats. One looked exactly like a cat that was in a bacardi ad at the time, so we named it Bacardi. The other was black, so we named it Coke.

Unfortunately Bacardi ran away from home, so we're stuck with a cat inexcplicably named Coke.

I have two Jack Russells. One is called Milly which is common enough for dogs. The other is called Norman. I've gotten a lot of strange looks when calling him in the park or on the street. Still, there's no other dog in town called Norman.

Mam has a dog called Judy.

Some of our dear departed dogs:

Gusty and Taylor (my brother named them after Garth Brooks' daughters - August and Taylor) the SHAME.

Deefer as in D for Dog.
