How long is your commute?

Hey guys

Thinking of applying for Maynooth, however I have a slight problem. I live in Swords :pac:. And I have no idea how long it would take to get there in the mornings. I suppose I would have to get a bus to Pearse street and get the 66 or whatever it is. So my question is.....

Is it worth it?

Would you consider moving out?

Mine is only about 10-15 minutes, but I know a lot of people who get 2/3 buses or trains to college.

If you can afford it, move out, at least for a year or two, you miss out on so much if you're commuting. Albeit, you can make friends in Maynooth who'll let you sleep over on nights out but you'll miss out on a lot of club and societies events, random nights out etc and it's a decent learning/maturing experience too.

Whether it's "worth it" or not is really up to yourself, depends on what course you're doing and what alternative colleges there are really.

Live in Drogheda so an hour and a half by bus. Wasn't too bad though and never irritated me

I know the bus used to stop in Swords way back 4 years ago, but stoped since it added 20 mins onto the trip and not that many people took it, they cut it out of our route...

When I was a first year I took 2 trains from balbriggan and it used to take me over 2 hours when you take into account walking and waiting. It was hell. Move out if out if you possibly can. Or try to get a direct bus service. Swords is pretty big town, so it wouldnt surprise me if there was a direct one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have considered moving out. And I'm not sure if there's a direct bus from Swords to Maynooth, I'll have to check that one

Normally mine's about 30 ish minutes on the 66 or 67, but I never know when the hell it's coming as I'm right in the middle of the route
so I have to leave exactly 1 hour 10 before the lecture.
Dublin bus really need route timers.
So if you just miss one you're not waiting an hour for a bus that won't come!

I'm from Maynooth originally, so I have a five minute walk to college.
I went to Rathmines last year for a year though, had to get two busses a day, 66 to town and 128 to Ratmines. It was worth it though but the whole heading out at night wasn't fun because I had to rely on my mam to collect me or stay in someone's house, as the nitelink doesn't run during the week!
It can be done very easily though!! Just manage it and try stay in someone's house!!

Wow, I just found it by accident!
I was searching for pictures of my local tram one but had no luck!
Plus I couldn't be arsed walking down to it, taking a picture and walking back like a big saddo!

It's grand!! It's not too bad, just get the person you're staying with a drink at some stage...you would have had to pay for taxis etc so one drink isn't so bad!

Yeah, I did that the other night after graduation, taxi to swords would cost a bit
