I think instances of "thanks-whoring" are greatly exaggerated... I'm willing to bet people would post the exact same types of responses it's assumed are attempts to "thanks-whore" if there was no thanks button.

Feedback has seen a lot of threads regarding the Thanks button.

It has it's positives too you know.

Lets say,you post something in reply to a thread and I agree with you because I was going to reply with something similar.

It's quicker and cleaner for the thread to just thank the post I agree with.
