Thinking of investing in a treadmill (ideally 2nd hand) and I know a few on here use regularly (SJ, Woddle, Tunguska - to name a few).
What are the key things to look out for, spec, functionality, brand, etc?

I can't seem to see the Horizon Adventure 2 for sale anyway - presumably it's been discontinued. Does anyone know which model has superseded it?

I don't know if its discontinued, but the adventure 3 is basically the same machine, more expensive though. The difference is, the adventure 3 has a slightly stronger motor (same speed and incline though), and has a polar chip receiver(the adventure 2 only has the hand pulse grips). and it has speakers that you can hook your ipod up to.

Ring elverys and ask will they be getting the adventure 2 again...as far as I know they have exclusivity on this model.

I got a Bremshey Trail from http://www.scorpionfitness.co.uk/ in the North. They have free delivery to anywhere in the South. After the exchange rate it came in at around €900 as I also got a HRM too. It's rock solid, a very sturdy machine, it doesn't move an inch during use. I looked at both the Horizon Adventure 2 & 4 in Elvery Sports before I made my purchase and felt the Bremshey is a more commercial grade machine. I expect it to last me a long time. Hope this helps.

I agree, if you plan on spending around 900, this is the best you will get. The same model in that place in blanch, vj's fitness, is nearly 2 grand. Scorpion is a wholesaler too, and they sell these to vj's and other places, so great value for money at that price.

I was gonna buy it but found the sales staff weren't that bothered returning my calls or mails,I was gonna buy the machine, and told them that, but they were to ring me back with a price on some accessories, they never did, despite me ringing and emailing again, so in the end, I went with the adventure 2, as I managed to get a price that I would have been stupid to refuse.

Adventure 2 is sold out as far as i know.the proform 780 is half price and selling for 749.00
I have ran on the Nordictrack t12 and can't reccomend it enough.you can adjust the spring in the running belt and it goves a lovely soft feeling on level 5.speed goes up to 20kph so you can do some fast intervals or sprints and the incline goes up to 12%

Nordic track are lovely looking machines, I nearly made the mistake of buying one till I did more research, their after sales is supposed to be terrible, getting hold of spare parts can take months. I heard this from a number of different people in the business that sell them . Arnotts may tell u otherwise but I don't think they really know what they are on about, the sales staff just want to make a sale...

I know bremshey and horizon are supposed to have great aftersales, oh and pro form and Nordic track are the same company..

But, this nordic track (the C2000) is of similar spec and will only set you back about 680 euro:

This company(fitness superstore) is one of the companies that advised me of Nordic Tracks poor aftersales service...they didn't volunteer the info naturally enough , I asked them was it true that their aftersales was poor, and the guy agreed and said it was.

You also mentioned the pro form, that elveries sell for 749 euro, the above company do it also, for about 630 euro.

Their prices are good(I don't know anything else about them after that though), I nearly bought the Nordic Track from them, till I heard about their aftersales, and bought the Horizon adventure 2 from Elveries instead.

Best of luck with whatever model you go for, if you need any other advise just ask.

Hello all.

I am interested in buying a treadmill (just a beginner and want to use it just for walking mostly) and have been looking at the Horizon T102 on the Elverys website.

When I went to research that particular model on the internet I realised that the photo Elverys are using is not the Horizon T102.

Does anybody know what the model in the photo is? All the reviews I read were american so maybe this model looks different for the European market?

And if I place an order, do you think it would be the item listed or the item pictured I'd get? Was trying to contact them but no reply.

Has anybody ordered from Elverys online? I want to avail of their delivery and setup service, being a 7 stone woman I don't think I'd be able to set up a treadmill by myself! Is the delivery service worth paying €60 for?

Or if anybody could suggest a beginners treadmill, in the €500 I'd be very grateful.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

In relation to a treadmill, has anyone got any advice as to the best option for the following situation.

Novice runner, living in a first floor apt. (thankfully lifts available to the front door of apt so not so much dragging required on delivery)
Obviously I don't have room for a monster of a machine, so one that can fold neatly into a small space is definitely a requirement.

any advice on a treadmill which can be used upstairs(dont have concrete floors upstairs) not noisy. will be using it mostly for walkin,maybe jogging and probably eventually running. iv read through this thread but still cant figure out which one to get. just an all rounder compact quite treadmill that can be used upstairs. or am i just dreamer that there will be one out there that will suit my needs!!

Is there any website out there that reviews various treddies? I've wanted to get one for a while now and I think I'm finally talking ZL around. Talking him around has cost me €1200 for a kayak so I'm thinking a similar budget for the treadmill sounds fair? Any suggestions? I think sturdiness would be my main requirement, I don't really care about programmes or inbuilt fans.

I've only experience the one I bought earlier in this thread, it's sturdy, mid range and was priceless in the Winter.
Got it at a discounted price in Elverys at the time - PM thirstywork who might know if there are any offers on the cards.

Beep Beep, I notice you have 1 too, the first thing I noticed when using it is that distance and speed are in MPH and not KPH, this put me off as in the gym all the ones I used were in KPH. I ws told in the shop that thhis could not be changed, but I rang horizon direct and they explained how to go into engineering mode where you can change it top KPH, just thought I'd let you know incase you prefer readings in KM.

For memory I think you hold down the + speed and - incline or visa versa for 5-10secs and that brings you into the settings, let me know how you get on I have the details saved somewhere.

Just checked back on my old emails there, this is what they told me to do:

After you turn*on*the machine , please press UP+SLOW to enter into ENG, then select ENG3 and press ENTER to log into ENG3 and then press START to exchange between metric standard and English standard

Thanks guys I got it working. Its a bit stupid tho - for distance it will only input 9.8 or 10.2 but not 10km.

Also I don't really understand the point of user1 or user2 since it takes no detail nor records anything from what I can see.

The threadmill is good, but the software is useless (not that I mind too much)

The Horizon Adventure 4 treadmill is €799 at the minute in Elvery's. It was €999 a couple of weeks ago. DOes anyone know if this is a good deal or do you think it will go down in price again before Christmas?

I'd expect them not to reduce them again, they generally reduce the price to get rid of stock before bringing in newer models.
Personally, I think it's a good deal and got one, but if I had the cash I would have gone for the 508 before it.

Hey Triangle that is basically what the guy in Elvery's told me. They have 2 in stock in the shop I was in and are not getting in anymore until new model comes out. I have been looking into buying a treadmill for a while and thought the adventure 4 seemed good but at €999 it really was too expensive for me. I live out in the country and it really isn't an option to run outside in the evenings unless I drive into town. So I reckon it could be a good investment. I am not a serious runner and I am only getting back into again after having a baby. My husband is into runner and does 10km, 10 miles and is training for half marathon. He reckons he'd prefer to run outside.
