Do Chat-up lines work?

Everyone knows at least 5 nauseating 'chat-up' lines, whether they be about angels, dreams, running, heaven or tossing a coin.

For all the merryment/vomiting they cause; do they actually work?

Lads, have you ever used one that's worked?
Ladies, has one ever worked on you*

*Or vice-versa, but Wimminz using chat-up lines doesn't seem common

I have found in my experience that "hi, whats your name ? " is 100% the way to go.

I hate chat up lines, have had wimmin try them on me and they are just so kitsch. Although I must admit I once tried threw out a line and it worked. No idea why I did, just threw it out without thinking, "you wouldn't turn down a handsome guy like me?"... can't believe that worked. I felt a little embarrassed after I had said it.

Last year I was watching boondocks and they had a piss-take of soul-plane 2(youll find this on youtube). Decided to rob a line from that. Was passing a really good lookin girl in a club, but kind smiled and started turning towards her as she went passed and I said "Damn B!tch!, you as fine as a mother f*cker!" she started roaring laughing and I went off with her. and she was about 4 years older than me as well. Thank f*ck she had a sense of humour!

I usually go up talking to girls and then if I get the feeling that they like me I say "wheres your boyfriend" and end up goin off with them...(cuz they dont have one

)

Another time I said that, the girl said that he was back in Waterford and said that things were a bit complicated between them, so I just said that things were gonna get a lot more complicated and ended up goin off with her... pretty damn funny

So afterwards I was standing at the exit waiting for the rain to calm down and she came out too and asked me where I was going and if I wanted a lift. Unfortunately I live just across the road, as I told her, and she went on her way.
Could this be interpreted as some kind of come-on? Jesus she was fine...

Total missed opportunity. I was in a similarish scenario a few years back, taxi rank was busy, was talking to a few girls in the line and we got into the same taxi, taxi driver asked where I was going and I looked at the girl beside me and replied to the taxi driver... "I'm not sure", he turned around and looked at me and she replied back "he's going to ..." whatever her address was!

there was a guy in the smoking area of the front door pub a few weeks back, he had robbed a clothes tag off his sister prob but he was going around pulling at peoples back pretending the had left the tag on their clothes!!

i laughed it was original and it did get me talking to him even though i was only slagging him cause he used a size 14 tag most of the other ladies werent impressed!!!!!!
